I just recently ordered the HM5's on mp4nation. I was just wondering what I can expect in terms of size. It would be great if someone that owns both the FA-003's (considering they're almost identical) and SRH440's gave a good comparison.

Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

They're not small but not huge either. I carried them with me around campus today no problem. If you Google them you will see some pictures of people wearing them. I used to own the SRH440. The HM5 is better in every way except one IMO. Even though a lot of people say the 440 are neutral(ish), they are in fact very far from being so. They had a big spike at ~9 kHz which made them artificially brighter and the mids kind of hard and edgy, and the bass was less than neutral. Also they had zero extension in both the bass and the treble. The soundstage was quite small as well. The sound that was there was good, but hampered by the things I just listed. The only thing they have over the HM5 is that they were much punchier (although sometimes a little too punchy for my taste), but to me all the other major flaws make that useless. The HM5 blows them out of the water in every other aspect. While not 100% perfect, they are much much more neutral, yet never sound thin or unmusical either. My head also found the 440 extremely uncomfortable. Not just uncomfortable--they literally caused me intense physical pain to have them on my head (not exaggerating). The HM5 are very comfortable for me in contrast.
