If I may ask: Do you ever hear this background noise from your earphones whenever your Walkman is on? I find that very annoying, but probably nothing an amp can't fix.

I respect the DAP's like Cowon's and give Sony the thumbs up for their awesome effort at remaining close to the audiophile realm with their walkma DAP's...but smartphones other than select Nokia's. to me are a laugh in the audio department other than the iphone. they all use low quality amps, circuits, and DAC's.. if u read the reviews..tey are all very bad. even Sony phones..and with no option of lining out except for a quircky way with nokia's..haha. i'm not going to dual amp a good amp with a poor one and DAC. Oh BTW. i love ASUS, and Samsung. But Apple is still on my top due to what they offer. i always back Samsung in the other departments other than smartphone. just can't do it here.

Thats strange I have no issues like that. It is silent with no noise for me.

@bowei. Ya I was impressed with the Galaxy player my pops got for Christmas. The sound was actually impressive. I have always wanted a cowon. Heck maybe I'll get both. Lol!

Just wanted to mention that you can find these AT IEMs on eBay also!

Just search for: ATH-CKM50

Most of the listings are less than $30...

with the sony or other's? For the other's i was talking about sub par components and no option to line out. the differences are small. but as audiophile's. the diffferences get pretty big pretty soon and is audible.

Whenever the Walkman turns on or wakes up from standby there's a 'd' sound and then I hear this buzzing sound. It's like static. It's barely noticeable when music is being played but...

I agree. I know there are plenty of better players out there but this Sony has lasted me a long time. Good solid quality and the sound is awesome. Maybe I will upgrade to a higher end sony. hmm There is a thought.

haha yeah Sony is pretty solid with their Walkman series. their headphones are trying to again re break into our audiophile market. it's doing okay but not nearly as good as Phillip's one try break in this time at CES (Jude thinks so from Tekzilla video)

my next device for audio is probably going to be an ipod classic :D be it the new one's or the old one's with Wolfson DAC :D gs1000.gif

Well here is how crazy I am about these CKM50s. Not only did I get almost the entire CKM series but I also bought 3X more CKM50s. Yes that would be 4 pairs. I decided no matter how much of an upgrade to the newer AT phones can be these @ $25 I just had to stock up..

The good news. Even though these are discontinued iems. There are plenty of CKM50s around because these were overlooked when they came out. Anyone interested in these at the time probably opted for the CKM70s which explains why there are no CKM70s around.  But to be fair @ $100 when they came out there was more popular choices for that much at the time.  Lucky for all of us. 4 years later and Amazon wanting to get rid of them we get to have these gems for the very doable price of $25. Timing is everything.

LOL.

Maybe not funny but it wouldn't surprise me... I still hold the Pannies you recommended

a few months ago in high regards even when compared to my newest ATH-A900X so... :-p

How you like them CK10s. How you describe the sound on them? Dual balanced, I can guess much detail?

I believe it's two different beast's, the CK10 being a dual driver BA and the CKM line up are dynamic drivers.

Even the AT CKS line is yet again very different from the the CKM and CK, still with a dynamic driver, but much more emphasize on bass than any of the others. The CK10 sounds more like other dual driver BA's like  DBA-02/Q-jays/UE700.  I believe the CKM50 sounds more like what we typical expect from a DD IEM.
