Would it be best to wait until they are available on Amazon UK, and has a price been decided?
Thanks and I can't wait to finally hear them!

I guess we'll have to see whether import tax will be imposed and how much that is going to be... the price I paid for the option of 6-10 days delivery was $350... under the current currency exchange rates that comes down to £217 so hopefully even if tax is added on we won't lose much  if at all especially considering the faders and shields thrown in for free...

i'm more worried about whether the M100 will be the right headphone for me and the kind of music I listen to (rock/metal).....where I might lose out would be if I don't eventually like the sound signature and decide to return it before the 60 day period os over....

unfortunately it has not been possible to audition any of the V-Moda headphones in London so I can figure out what to expect.... I have just been trying to guess how it will sound like form what everybody has been saying in the forums but at the end of the day it comes down to personal taste....

by the way I have auditioned the Sony MDR-1R and I was actually quite happy with the overall sound quality on the music I normally listen to....

i'm no audiophile and cannot really describe what I hear in specific terms but I think what works better for this kind of music is a more balanced headphone without being too bass heavy but with good mids and treble to accommodate the guitars vocals and snare drums in a relatively even manner...The MDR-1R is definitely not that portable however and that is another important factor why I ended up going for the M100 in the end....

oh and finally there's has been no actual update on my order status...still says dispatch will be in the next 14 days

I've don't exactly the same thing as you with the quicker delivery...hopefully the tax isn't too much!

When did you order yours?

I'll be honest, rock/metal doesnt really sound all that glorious on the M-100's. I feel the biggest gleaming blemish on these headphones is how distant the midrange sounds(guitars are missing that "crunchy" sound compared to mid-focused/neutral headphones). While the bass has a very good level of control, it doesnt gracefully transition into the mids, and simply sounds big.

That said, please take my opinion for the grain of salt it is; I didnt have a very good experience with the M-100's for my genre's, so my impression is a bit more critical than the majority of the people following this thread.

Yeah...that midrange. :/

I listen to a lot of midrange-focused genres at home so they aren't the best in that regards. Pad mods help a bit though.

While mobile listening I tend to listen to more electronic or bass heavy music so it's OK in that regards. The midrange is still laid back though and I mentioned that in my review. 4/5 audio quality for mobile listening, 3.5/5 audio quality for home listening, for me.

I'm actually new to head-fi...only subscribed back in august in order to do some research before purchasing a pair of headphones for listening while on the move... had never expected that it would come down to such a plethora of parameters such as sound signature, extension of bass, mids, lows, treble, soundstage, open/closed, type of music etc....! Not to mention subjectivity of the listener...!

The truth is that the more I learn about headphones and the more opinions of other people I read, the more I think that the M100s will not eventually be the one for me... I placed the order on the 17th of october and even though deep inside I believe I will end up selling it or sending it back, I am really curious about how it sounds like and am still hopeful that its great portability may be one of the factors that will win me over and convince me to keep it.... it seems that I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that I will probably need to invest in a second headphone at some point as apparently no single headphone can adequately fulfill all expectations and tick all the boxes....

so I am still looking forward to receiving the product hopefully before xmas (would be greatly disappointed if they don't get delivered by then)....I went for customisation of the extra shields but then started worrying that this might end up delaying dispatch for another few days...fortunately customer support reassured me that there would be no additional delay with the engraving, but until they're in my hands I'll keep feeling greatly impatient.. :)

I'm exactly in your same situation. I'm just waiting for my M100 because I think those hinges and its portabilty can be just too good for what I plan to do with them, which is pretty much take them everywhere in my jacket's pocket, but I don't know if I would sacrifice sound for them. Once I got them, I will try to compare them with the Momentum, which is my reference at this point, and then I'll decide.

By the way, If you are in London you can try the V-Moda M80 and LPs in Selfridges. rolleyes.gif

Well that's interesting.

M-100 vs Denon AH-D7100 (M-100 is the faded curve)

700

The M-100 seems to be a D7100 with less peaky treble. So...maybe if you like the D7100's sound, the M-100 would be the right headphone for you for 1/4 the price. XD

Here's what you do, send V-MODA an email instructing them to mark your package as socks from grandma for Xmas and forget about paying import fees. Another option you can try, have V-MODA mark your package as danger highly deadly pathogen and I absolutely guarantee you it will get through both customs and boarder security unnoticed with no fees and no Scotland Yard raiding your flat.

What can I say danny93 I'm in one of my funky moods today, laughter is a good thing.

Highly likely it will get caught by customs in the UK, they take no notice of declared values on goods and will find out the actual price of it. They will then add 20% tax to that for VAT and there will also be a "handling fee" of £15- £25 on top of that.

When looking to import items into the UK, always assume that customs will catch it and make allowances in your purchase price for that. Sometimes you get lucky and things don't get caught, but more often than not in the UK, they will.

I just bought a ZO from a fellow headfi-er but for a different headphone entirely. If for whatever reason I feel M-100 is lacking in bass, I'll pull out the ZO too, but I know it won't be necessary, unless on 0 boost, and just used as a portable (sub par) amp. I assume since you said it's okay with lesser amps
can you please tell me how that turns out when you get them?

Hey guys it's been awhile, my internet was down for weeks and i arrive to tons of new pages I don't have time to sort through sadly. i've been following this thread like a hawk for months on end. So if anyone would be nice enough to fill me in i'd really appreciate it. :)

I have heard that the m-100, when equalized and bass boosted, can have as much bass as the Crossfade lp? Like in sub bass and it can become somewhat loose

What would you like to be filled in on?  Fill me in, just in general, is awfully vague.
