Hm mmk I'll have to check out their remastered albums then.

Now, are they true remasters, or are they cheap, "Loudness War" remasters?

"Loudness War" albums really annoy me too. I am really disappointed with 2CELLO's first album because there is so much clipping due to the "Loudness War". :(

Woo, Headphoneus Supremus status. XD

Actual remasters, monsieur supremus.

There are original mono releases too though... the mono set only contains remasters of the mono releases (no yellow submarine, let it be, or abbey road consequently in mono)

Ah good to know. :)

I'll have to see if I can find some of those remastered albums at local music stores. I really like their music, just not the weird stereo effect. XD

Last time I checked though, the stereo remasters go the short end of the stick and just ended up being DNC'd crap...

DNC?

Anyway I'm more than satisfied with the stereo remasters. Overall this review basically sums up my experience with it (sans the part of the mono being not as good as the stereo) http://dangerousminds.net/comments/you_never_give_me_your_money_metzger_on_the_beatles_remasters

Dynamic range compression, I meant DRC, sorry!

How would you compare the DNAs to the M-100s?  I picked up a pair of DNAs while I wait for my M-100 pre-order to arrive in December and I like them more and more each day.  It really is amazing how good they sound compared to something like the Beats Solo HD.  It's a shame that people probably won't even give them a try because they are a Monster product.  I'm curious to hear some A & B comparisons to the M-100 if you get the time.  TIA.

Ah so you were the Monster DNA guy. I do recall someone talking about that somewhere.

Next to each other, the DNA has less bass quantity and quality. I was in an Apple Store so the background noise was pretty high. The M-100 hit harder and deeper in this environment, but the DNA had decent punch. I would imagine that the sound would be "fuller" when in a quiet listening environment.

The midrange (female vocals really stood out) of the DNA is more forward than that of the M-100 so that's what captured my attention in the DNA. In terms of timbre, the DNA sounded kind of hollow and lacking in warmth compared to the M-100.

The highs of the DNA were also more present than that of the M-100 but sounded a bit too pronounced. It might have been due to the loud environment though as the SRH940 also had this "I only hear the treble" effect in a loud environment. This caused the DNA to sound rather cold next to the M-100 since the M-100's treble extension is rather soft/quiet in comparison.

Comfort-wise I actually like the DNA more than the M-100 because the earpads of the DNA were soft and cushiony without having my ears touch the hard driver enclosure. Noise isolation was slightly higher on the DNA as well.

On the other hand, the DNA seemed to present less details next to the M-100 and I would call them a more forgivable headphone as a whole. For $200 I do think the DNA is a pretty good headphone, but for a loud listening environment, I would prefer the warmer-sounding UE6/4000. The UE_000's are less portable and are much bulkier/heavy on the head though so that's something to consider since the DNA is a really portable headphone. The dual-entry headphone ports is also a nice bonus as I like the M-100's cable on the right or left side depending on which pocket my PMP is in.

Eerie coincidence, when these are folded the red trim forms a 'V', almost identical to the V-Moda Logo.

Even Monster respects V-Moda.

According to the sound of this thing, clearly not enough.

The sound quality of the Inspirations that I tried weren't nearly as bad as it was implied. At the Apple Store, it was one of the probably 3 headphones that I would actually listen to. They really were not that terrible relative to the other headphones there at the time (the stores in my area no longer sell them).

Hifiguy528 seems to agree (watch at 4:27):

Back to the M-100, I'm really, really liking the SharePlay cable...seriously, it's 9001 times better than the SpeakEasy one in terms of usability for me.

The speakeasy cable has about the same amount of cloth as the audio only cable, which as far as bendability goes is much more useful than the speakeasy cable.

On the other hand the length of the shareplay is *just* right. mmrph

When are Jude and Tyll gonna release their reviews on these headphones. I know both have been playing with the 100s for some time now yet no reviews from them. Jude teased us with the unboxing pics but no signs of a review. I would love to read what they think before i pull the trigger !!!

Got bored of waiting for a release date and picked up the Sony MDR-1R for now.. not impressed with the sound at all.  Comfy as hell and good build quality but nothing that excites me sound wise, my M50s were better from memory.  Will be returning.

Noticed Amazon UK have just listed loads of V-Moda Shields today for the LP2 and M-100 according to their description, hopefully not too long before we see the M-100 listed as well!
