The Allen wrench isn't all that bad...I don't know why people dislike it so much. Long side in the screw, hold the wrench in place near the screw with one hand, turn the wrench at the short-end with your other hand. It took me about 2 minutes to take off the screws with the included wrench.

Fixed the link -- Also, I don't know if it's tolerances in the screws or the allen wrench, but mine was totally unusable and didn't fit the screws at all.  YMMV I guess.

I haven't registered my M-100 yet, but doesn't that not work for the warranty? You'll need the original proof-of-purchase receipt for the warranty and it doesn't apply to those who bought it opened.

I need to verify this.. Anyone? it doesnt make sense to buy an open box from you guys then, since I will not be able to avail the warranty... --- Either I wait or just get an LP2 and a Grado SR80i... biggrin.gif

In the M-100 user manual it says:
Quote:
V-MODA Premier Limited Warranty
...
  • This warranty does not cover products purchased open box, sold as-is, by private party resale or any other third party purchases from unauthorized distributors. Transfer of V-MODA products through unauthorized distributors renders this warranty null and void.
  • A proof of purchase may be in the form of a receipt or bill of sale, with the model of the product, price and the date of purchase stated.

From V-MODA's warranty webpage:
Quote:
Please note that we will not be able to process your warranty return without a proof of puchase (which could be a receipt or bill of sale, with model of the product and date of purchase).

How would a proof of purchase from say, Amazon or Newegg, work?

So far either you buy it straight from Amazon LLC and not fullfilled by Amazon. Fullfilled by Amazon means a private seller or third party is selling the goods and Amazon is organzing the transaction which means no warranty.....So be carefull...When you check it out, make sure seller name is Amazon LLC.

For New Egg, they are authorized reseller ....

I guess both just need a proof of receipt dated and under your name and address....?

Now I am leaning to Grado PS500....

Will you do it if you have a fund? Or wait for next year shipment of M-100?

I'll wait for the next shipment.

I'm selling my white pair with gray pads and black croc extra shields but looks I will have to return it instead cause of warranty policy. I like sound after more than 30 hours of burn-in but some comfort issue with earpads force me to part with them. If anyone interested PM me. I perfectly know I should do it in for sale forum but I decided to post it here first since a lot of people are interested. I also tried UE6000 and prefer M-100 over them. I also own D600 since they show up in New York and so far D600 are best for me while M-100 are close behind and if I wouldn't have that comfort issue it would be difficult to decide which one to keep. Also be aware that V-Moda cables work without problem with non-Apple player soundwise and are compatible with UE6000 too

Speaking of comfort issues, people have asked how large the earcups are. Well, I did some rough measurements:

I can see how comfort would be a deciding factor for the M-100. The earcups are pretty shallow. Even if my ears fit inside of the hexagonal earpads, the driver cover(?) is raised into the earcup a bit so really you get less clearance for your ear in terms of depth. The top of my ear actually touches this "driver cover", but it isn't too uncomfortable for me.

I won't have the M-100s in time for my thoughts to meet the pace of this or any other discussion. That's the only reason I haven't posted my findings and probably won't in the future.  I'll probably be happy with the M-100s and I do feel lucky to have been included in the pre-order.

I'm also not commenting on delays because they're irrelevant. I appreciate the extra trouble and care this entire project involved.

But at this point, you don't need anything from me.................

Scrypt, I think I speak for everyone here when I say impressions from someone of your calibre would be welcome. Yes there's been a lot of impressions posted but most of them have only been passing observations with no real depth of explanation. I'm far from what can be termed an academic writer but even so I've decided to contribute in my own different oddball way. The reasoning behind my oddball approach is an attempt and exercise in trying to contribute to the community all the while trying to keep it different and fun for myself and I would hope the reader. I've been curious to see how you would formulate your final impressions etc and I think a lot of others are too. I know you're probably thinking your contribution would be redundant at this point in time but I personally think your view coupled with your writing style would make for some enlightened reading and above all it would probably be a fun exercise for you. Come on scrypt, this hobby is all about having fun, or should be. Please give your last post a second thought and throw on your M-100 and come join the party. There's always room on the M-100 locomotive for someone looking to have a little fun.

Anyone who agrees with my post please give it a thumbs up.

I see that you are having challenges with headphones now that I dealt with until recently, and you said D600 are best for you, but are still selling them.  Have you found headphones that are "keepers" for you or are you still searching?  Would the M-100 be a keeper if not for the comfort?  For me, I have determined the M-100 are more than capable to serve as the reference audiophile headphone I have been extensively searching for.  I agree with the comfort concern related to pad size pressing on the ear and am optomistic there will be a pad upgrade option in the future.  The UE6000 will fill the role of basshead/workout headphone nicely as it has fuller bass and extreme comfort.

I'm still going to allow for more burn-in and listening time before I post my impressions and comparison to the V-80s, but in the mean time here's another song to add to the M-100 playlist. I feel the song title is appropriate.

Yeah I'm going to wait a while for my M-100's to "burn-in". 6 days (144 hours) of "burn-in" here we go!

I won't be listening to any music on any headphones during this time in an attempt to reduce bias towards X headphone(s). This is a true test of "burn-in" for me to see if it exists or not. Not listening to the M-100's will prevent me from getting used to its sound and/or having it conform to my head shape, as some people have suggested.

And to think we do this because we love music!
