I love the overall concept, and I think the gunmetal shields are the best looking of all the shields, but I think Shadow just doesn't do justice to the overall quality of the headphones. The things I listed cheapen the look and feel of my M-80s. White does away with the psuedo-suede headband and stitching, and from what I've seen it looks like it also does away with the glossy cups and wingplates. Based on pictures and from what I've read, the cups and wingplates of the white M-100s are satin rather than glossy. Can any white M-100 owners confirm?

 

Heck, I'm even considering Matte Black now too...just the ultimate for exuding quality because it completely lacks any shiny cheapness. Only thing with them is that I like having a noticeable "v-moda" on top of the headband, and it's barely noticeable on the matte black. Decisions, decisions...

Yea, that was my gripe when I ordered the VTF-100s. Personally, I like the gloss part. However, the headband I do feel needs work. Still got the shadow anyways. :). Now I can put the two brothers side by side matching. I guess that's a plus ^^

 

Kinda regret in getting Shadow...But I guess I wouldn't want to return this and wait 2 more months for another run.

Did that for my M80 box too. There's one there also...how is this special for M100s again?

 

In matters of SQ, if I now feel that my M100s make the instruments more overpowering than the vocals, does that mean the mids, for me, are recessed? Although the soundstage isn't as wide, the M80s, to my ears, have a more direct feel...on the M100s it's distance. Another disatisfaction I guess, I do like vocals very much. Then again, maybe I'm assuming too much.

I had an online chat with a v-moda person who, although very pleasant, wouldn't even confirm that the M100 would come to the UK. AFAIK there isn't a confirmed date for general release in the US yet. It would be nice to get some idea as like you, I am holding off purchasing anything at the moment. Not holding my breath though as I guess they will want to satisfy pent up demand at home first.

Can't wait to actually have my new headphones to pair with my iPod Touch 5G. On that note though, the earpods aren't half bad. Not audiophile by any means, but miles above the last earbuds from apple.

 

Oh customs.. how I hate you so. How many days must you keep my M-100's? Hell, tracking doesn't even say whether it's even AT customs yet or not.

Customs is a pain!  You're still probably gonna get your headphones at least a week earlier than me though. :P

Thing is, what does it do? Improve leakage/isolation? Cause the sound-stage to get smaller? Alter the bass?

 

Can anyone check what they sound like and leak/isolate with and without the dampening material?

    Out of genuine curiosity, I would like to know if there is any statistically valid correlation, positive or negative, to date, between the number of "Head-Fi'er" M-100 thread posts made by a given member, and the probability that they have already received there pre-order m-100 headphones...anyone able/willing to generate that study...?

Just to clarify, you are wondering if the order the headphones were sent/received were based on the amount of posts that member had made in this thread?

If that's the question I would say no, as i assume many people who haven't posted a ton in this thread were apart of the first batch of M-100's sent out.
