A shame, that's one of the things I was hoping to see come out.  They are presumably the same size as the LP2, and those are kind of in the middle between being on ear and over the ear (for me at least).  I'm on the cusp of being able to wear them as over the ear, and have to put them on with the headband a little forward and after they are over my ears rotate it back, to kind of "screw my ears" into the padding.

I'll check back in end of week with some updates, promise!

PS - we are trying to launch M-100 with a few after market accessories too

It's the end of the week.....

Also, Val- there has been much discussion regarding the bass of the M-100 which I am confident will be on the money.  Can you say anything about midrange detail such as vocals?

I returned my Amperiors partly because they lack midrange detail.  Also, many here have mentioned they expect more midrange detail in the M-100 compared to the M-80, particularly if the M-100 is expected to compete with higher priced headphones.

If I somehow snag a PPU M-100 can I send them back for a full refund if I don't like them? I'm starting to get skeptical, I LOVE my LP2's and I'm having a hard time seeing how another headphone can sound soooo much better like how people claim the M80 does. The LP2's are my first really expensive high end headphone btw. There seriously needs to be at least a couple of reviews released before the PPU's are released.

That would be rather difficult, though, wouldn't it? The PPU's are the same ones that Tyll and Jude are going to get. Pending Val meets his 8/08 estimated release date, that'd also put the PPU's in our hands for a bit of time before release.

If they will be in our hands 2 weeks before the 8/08 release (like I think he said they'd be) - he will need to do the PPU orders asap - before Sunday. But it all depends on the timing he is aiming for now.

Either way - I hope it is done today, because I won't be available from Saturday - Tuesday before 3PM Pacific time daily...

I fully expect the PPUs to have the same return policy as any other V-Moda product.  As optomistic  as I am regarding how much I will like the M-100, I would not purchase without the ability to return them.

Agreed.

PPU tends to be the round when reviewers get their product, so if you want to read feedback before buying the only way to guarantee that is to buy production. Not having reviews to base your decision on is one of the risks you take in buying PPU.

I know but is there any way Tyll and Jude can get their pairs before the rest of us so that they can be the first official reviewers? Has to be possible.

I don't think it will be done today, like it or not today is still only the 21st, not exactly the end of the month like how next weekend will be. Now what I do think Val will do today or during this weekend is announce the PPU's release date, which I feel will be the middle of next week or next weekend.

Absolutely agree. Spending $300 is too much of a risk not to get your moneys worth.

Yeah I know it's a risk. I'm just getting a little bit more weary about taking that risk. I think I still might take though, hopefully it'll be worth it.

x2

Makes it a good thing that I can't buy a PPU. I plan on getting a market one only if it has a lot of good reviews and lives up to its price.

Honestly, if you like the LP2's, you're probably a basshead. I'm not much of a fan of the LP2.

The M-80's are V-Moda's flagship headphone and are a lot more balanced-sounding than the LP2's. Comparing the LP2 to the M-80 would be comparing apples to oranges.

Val,

Where is the end of week update you promised?  With all these delays, I'm mentally preparing for an Xmas launch.  Anticipation is turning to frustration.....

Don't get impatient - it happens when it happens. We can't really change that by nagging him on a forum.

Patience is a virtue.

I don't really see it as nagging or impatience, it's about follow through.  If Val said the M-100 wouldn't be ready until October, then it won't be ready until October.  However, if he says there is an August 8th launch and PPUs are coming out before then, but is still producing manuals or that he promises an update by the end of the week, but the end of the business week has passed.  In the meantime, Denon announced their thorough launch plan and their entire line is already available for preorder with all specs.

This is the only sentence where I would have no problem with you capping it, bolding it, enlarging it, and coloring it.

Remember, Val has said he wants to take his time with this product.
