I've not had the opportunity to try M80s (nor was I interested to as I never seem to like wearing supra-aurals), so I don't know much about the often quoted baseline of these new upcoming M100s.

Anyone got a sort of a good description of the preview units so far? I also understand there are limited run pre-production units being made. I love limited/exclusive things.

Hmm, anakchan (spelling?) posted the only breakdown on the sound of the pre-production models, probably within 5 pages back, I'll post the page when I find it for you. Might not get to it for 6 hours from now tho, so you may want to look back yourself.

Basically, they've got a pretty good soundstage for closed headphones, like Denon does with their +$100 headphones (don't know directly how they compare), and overall it is tuned for a full-bodied sound with non-fatiguing (nor hearing-damaging) highs. These are also to be circum-aural but they are fashionable and isolating enough to use portably, and also fold and fit into a nice carrying case, along with extra cords and accessories.

Anticipation is indeed very high.

Hey - I only told you about them - you did the rest when it came to asking questions and getting curious.

Anyway - you can look at page 152 for Anakchan's preview - if that helps. There's also an 'index' of all the golden nuggets of the thread, which I'll quote here:

The V-Moda M-100s...

...are closed circumaural cans meant keep in step with the M-80s more audiophile-pleasing sound signature.

...will most certainly be an upgrade SQ wise from the M-80s.

...have hinges, so they will be foldable.

...will be using 50mm drivers.

...have a secret additional feature that has not yet been revealed.

...do not require an amp, but will scale well if you decide to use one.

...do not have a definite price yet, but are estimated to cost around $300.

...are current expected to be released somewhere around late July to early August.

...will be released in two colors--White/Silver and Shadow.

...will use the same custom shields as the LPs/LP2s. You can get the shields for 20% off using the promo code M-100MANIA.

...will come with a case, 3 cables, and a 3.5 mm to 1/4 in plug. The 3 cables are an audio only cable, and iphone compatible cable with controls and a mic, and an android compatible cable with a mic.

Hey Val, any plans for pre-orders?

I'm in the UK and want to get my hands on them as soon as I can, sucks to be in the UK shipping is going to be killer.

Val, can you please make sure amazon.co.uk is recieving their samples as soon as possible? It took a while with the LP2 launch. It's among the very best places for us europeans to order from with free shipping option that is delivered faster than paying for shipping from other places :p and returning goods is very easy.

Every1 within europe can order easily from amazon.co.uk so it would be a good place to focus extra much on as far as europe goes. I live in Finland which is quite far from UK but amazon.co.uk is still the place I usually check the first if interested in a new headphone cuz it's usually among the cheapest and it takes like only 1 day extra than ordering from my own country and that's with free super saver delivery even lol and no place in Finland would ship for free, I can tell you that much, usually it's like 10 EUR or slightly more in shipping alone. They also have the best "no-questions asked" easy return process & policy ever.

I recall him saying it might be awhile for europe - I believe he said they wanted to focus more on the north american and asian markets at first.

It's the calm before the storm.  At least we are down to weeks instead of months for the release, getting closer.

I keep refreshing the page hoping for Val or somebody to post some more official images. Oh well I guess it's just time to patiently wait.

When I'm bored, I play videogames. Sometimes read, watch TV, listen to music, ponder what-ifs...
