6. Daisychaining cable jacks on both sides of the earcups.

(I was going to go with one of my earlier posts which suggested whisper quiet micro fans in the cups for ear cooling on hot days, but Val mentioned, rightfully so, he doesn't want alot of unnecessary moving parts.)

Folding headphones won't be out of style until people stop putting them in their bag. Oh wait a second...

Anyone else think this staunchly no-fold stance is just a forced attempt to further promote wearing headphones as a fashion accessory to get the VMODA name out there...?

These guys should hire me to do their marketing, these tactics are kind of transparent and a little sickening IMO...

The reason why he was so anti-folding before is mostly because it's just another point of weakness...I'm pretty sure you're reading a little bit too far beyond the lines here.  V-Moda doesn't even put excessive, super-visible branding everywhere on their headphones like most other companies tend to do.

You could still put them in a bag without the need of folding them. And thankfully because the build quality is so durable they can withstand being thrown in a bag for daily use.

I'm not big on companies being greedy with patents, but you might wanna send them an e-mail...

It was announced a few months ago and it looks nothing like vmodas...

+1

Kind of looks like a (ugly) Beyer Dynamic headphone.

Agreed, more like a flat version of Denon's cups, but of course the headband and shape of the arms are different. Grado also has "arms" around the cups. Really, I only recall headphones having cups attached by arms or have the headband attached to the middle of the cup. I think V-MODA's "look" is defined more by the pointy angles and Hexagon shape of the earcups. It would be wild if they departed from this shape like the teardrop shape of the Skullcandy Aviators, but I don't think those in particular fit the ear's shape very well, and the M-100 is already confirmed to use the same shields and earpads as the Crossfade LP series.

Edit: What SpiderNhan said...

So does anyone have any other ideas on what the secret feature could be? With the way Val's hyping it, it sounds big, but I don't know what it could be at this point..

Look at the elongated cups, the curved 6-sided shape of the grill, visible screws, lower profile design...I see a resemblance, I think it looks like a mix of the current DT line and an LP.

I think it is apt to say that this thread is killing my life right now haha. xD

Hmmm...dual-sided cable entry, anyone? Maybe the new cable The Doctor referenced in his guess #2 (above) is a split-Y...aaawwww SNAP! I'd personally love to plug in on the right, because I keep my iPhone in my right pocket.

I think it is dual cable entry. Not only does Val have his head turned in the second pic, but look at AnakChans picture with the M100s right cup being folded and hiding the bottom of it in the shadow where the jack would be.

And to eliminate other certain possibilities:

An amp Doctor? I do not really see this in the M100, just saying.

We know they have made a new mic, and we know there is a coiled cable in the works (Picture on FB with Erick Morillo using prototype M100s with a coiled cable)

For a cable locking mechanism? If the new feature is a locking mechanism and not two jacks then i think the feature would be by the only jack on the left side i don't see how it could lock the only jack on the left side from the right.

Removable ear pads? All the V-Moda Headphones have had removable ear pads I don't see them getting rid of this with the M100.

We already know about the hinges for folding and we all know about the case being smaller, but Val said do not take a picture of the feature which is only on the headphone.

This just my opinion.

Edit: Also haven't all the M100 pictures released so far show them only when there folded?

...ever held a pair of ATH-M50s? Do they seem not-durable to you? Hinge? Check.

Hinges have been around for ages...literally. Doors that get slammed hundreds of times a day are held up only by hinges. DJ cans are usually built to a much higher durability spec than other headphones, and they usually have hinges; lots have hinges AND swiveling cups.

If VMODA wants to make a super-durable hinge or swivel, they can do it. Trust me. If they don't implement it in the final design, it's most likely a basic piece that they are sacrificing for cost and production reasons.

Obviously V-Moda shouldnt hire you to do their marketing if you cant even figure this one out...wink_face.gif

The M-100's have a hinge. It's been confirmed since the beginning of this thread. They're even in AnakChan's pics. Isn't this a moot argument at this point?

Anyway, I'm pretty pumped about the M-100's. Custom shields at the ready!

Hopefully that's one of the colors he's talking about - I'm so torn between waiting for the full version, and getting the PPU's..
