V-MODA M-100: Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, etc. - Page 1374

So I got to hear the M-100's again today after my initial audition a few months ago at the local Brookstone's. They must have had a damaged pair before. These were night and day different than what I heard before. Again, I had them take the sound board/amplifier out of the chain so I could truly hear how they sound. I'm hoping I can pick up a pair in the next month or so!

Take a pair home, they sound absolutely better than they do on a demo unit at Brookstones.

For the record, I tried the XS today at AC Gears for a little while. I don't know what everyone's talking about with the XS sounding less "artificial" than the M100. They just sounded smaller. That was it. Maybe it's the XL Pads on the M100 but they really did sound like a "bigger" XS to me. No trade.

thats interesting you say that, i thought the m100s (with stock pads) reached deeper had a tighter bass, the mids stepped back. so you can turn it up higher without sounding piercing. plus that friendly sparkly treble omgg

which i find the xs can sound piercing if you go up high enough due to the more forward mids. i think the soundstage on the xs created a more realistic presentation. it sounds like a singer is performing in a small coffee shop right in front of you. with the vocalist right in the front and everything else pushed back a bit. while on the m100s the main vocalist fades in the background sometimes.

i miss my m100s still =(

It's possible that the XL pads made some more significant changes to the sound than I realized, but I definitely didn't think the XS were this balanced and neutral can in comparison to the M100. Just a compact version thereof with a bit less bass and a bit more mids. Slightly different response curve, but largely the same sound and texture. Definitely not swapping for them now.

Planing to get the m-100's soon, im just concern about sound leakage, most of the time i listen at 60-75% vol.

Do they really leak that bad as ive read? Any thoughts guys?

Thanks smily_headphones1.gif

They do leak but not very bad. Of course if you're in a quiet room and listen loud, someone will be able to hear you. In a coffee shop, I don't think so unless your neighbour is sitting really close to you.

Rockin' the m-100. biggrin.gif

He prefers the XL pads, and the coil pro cable.

No animals were harmed while taking this photo.

I use public transportation a lot (especially the train), worried might disturb other people with my music and might be an annoyance.

Anyway its all good! Might be starting out my portable headphones collection.biggrin.gif

Really like these headphones, hope they worth the investment.

Thanks

I don't think you have anything to worry about there. My wife is pretty sensitive to outside sounds when she's trying to sleep and I can listen to the M-100s in bed at a substantial volume without disturbing her.

Nah. The HD8 are good, but they're giant and clunky. I haven't played with them much, but I didn't get the feeling like "oh no my M100s are junk now".

There's even a thread elsewhere of me trying to find a "next headphones" from the M100s and failing until I stumbled across the Pandoras. Under $500 if you like bassy music the M100 is just tops.

Here is a soundtest of the Sennheiser HD8 dj, the V-MODA M100 and the Beats Studio.

I think the Sennheisers sound better than the m100's, don't they??

What do you guys say to that???

Which headphone is better from sounding?? ;)
