Any headphone is possible to make balanced. You need to make some hardware changes involving soldering for the M-100 though (since the stock connections are unbalanced).

I still haven't determined how to measure which wire goes to what for the M-100 though. XD

The AKG K 701 is much easier in this regard. It's pretty intuitive which wire is which.

Thanks, probably not worth the trouble.

When some really good closed backs for mixing and mastering come to market I will be in trouble. The Focal Spirit Professional came dangerously close.

thats surprising the spirit professional is completely in the other direction =0 glad u found what your looking for but mind tell me why it was those two of all the headphone combinations out there?

There you go...

Leave while you still can... and never turn back ;-)

Anyone have any thoughts on the issue I'm experiencing?

Moon-Audio sells M-100 balanced, but I don't think anyone here has tried it yet.

That's not balanced. Balanced means that the signaling for the left and right channels is balanced. That is, just like stereo speakers, there are four conductors with each channel having two conductors. Single-ended means that there is a single end-point in the circuits. That is, it has three conductors with one conductor shared by the two channels. Since the wiring inside M-100 is single-ended the headphones are single-ended regardless of what kind of cabling or sources you use outside the shells.

Not that it matters much for portable kit but that's getting off topic.

Ahhh ok, thanks for the confirmation :D

I went down that rabbit hole and the M100 still came out on top in the comparison, based on my preferences.

The focals would have been for mixing and mastering.

They aren't getting a purchase because you he circumaural design is apparentlymtoo smqllmwith no fix and some build issues.

I think my phone had a stroke. I'm alright though.

Okay, I think I figured out the wire connections to each driver maybe.
Happy thoughts.

I measured capacitance, basically conductivity, using a multimeter and I put a 3.5 mm cable in the headphone jack:
Right Driver
Sleeve (Ground): Red wire to driver/red wire to shared cable (single pad on PCB)
Ring (Right): Orange wire to driver/orange wire to shared cable (shared pad on PCB)
Tip (Left): Orange wire to driver/orange wire to shared cable (shared pad on PCB) and also red wire to driver/red wire to shared cable (single pad on PCB; measurement value of 60 instead of 30 like all of the above; I don't know why this happens)

Left Driver
Sleeve (Ground): Red wire to driver/blue wire to shared cable (single pad on PCB)
Ring (Right): Orange wire to driver/orange wire to shared cable (shared pad on PCB) and also red wire to driver/blue wire to shared cable (single pad on PCB; measurement value of 60 instead of 30 like all of the above; I don't know why this happens)
Tip (Left): Orange wire to driver/orange wire to shared cable (shared pad on PCB)

Since the red wires are consistently ground, and the shared cable has 2 connections to ground (blue wire from the left driver, red wire from the right driver), only the orange wire carries current to the drivers. That doesn't explain why the left driver has current going through it when measuring the ground wire on the tip of the 3.5 mm cable, or the right driver having current through it when measuring the ground wire on the ring of the 3.5 mm cable though. :x

anyone know what kind of "screw driver the m100/ xs " uses? i'm using the ones that came with my xs and either the tool bent or the screws on my 100 got warped

which is odd because today was the first day i tried unscrewing the shields out on my m100s (tried to do the tap mod, on the vent) to see if it could lower the bass a bit--> guess i can't do it now

and the name of the screws as well? maybe i could replace it?
