- My guess goes something along the lines add to Revolver apart from M100;

- Rotating cups (pretty much confirmed, also where the name comes from)
- XL pads dimensions are standard (possibly changed material to a higher quality one)
- Tweaked frequency response; slightly more forward lower-midrange, slightly less bass, ultra high highs extension without any sibilance peaks
- Maybe tweaked cup shape and or vents
- All metal or hybrid metal-wooden design; no plastic parts!
- $499 MSRP
etc.

This roughly what I'd expect.

All of that but the price are something I'd more than love.

I'm sure $399 would be a better guess, considering the M-100 is around $300.

I too believe that the share play cable sounds a tiny bit better than the the regular cable. It may be all mental though.

Well, around that - yeah.

Hey Val, is there any chance that this "uber-flagship" model will be a set of open back cans? I'm still waiting to see the V-MODA sound translated to an open back design. I imagine the soundstage and level of detail would be incredible.

Would be cool if Revolver had this one slightly bigger V-shaped opening at back instead of 3 small ones.

.........................or custom shields with a cutout instead of being laser-etched! THAT would be freaking awesome!

Except the problem there is that the sound wouldn't be consistent. i.e. a shield with a large amount of holes will likely sound different than a shield with no holes

Dang it...that would have been a novel concept otherwise. >.>

Well, it seems that people are requesting open headphones, so cut-outs may not be such a bad idea either. Just give them a few variations of cut outs instead of custom ones, so it doesn't distort the sound. Kinda like bass ports, except these ones will be visible:)

I love my M-100's but I find them slightly awkward when walking about/jogging with them for example. With the way they are closed, you can hear every step you take, but with a deep boom and amplified. It makes listening to music quite uncomfortable.

Must be the closed nature.

Yeah I won't recommend the M-100 for active use, as it is easier and safer to do that with IEMs.

Honestly - I'd prefer a closed headphone that fixes the M-100's flaws to an open headphone I can't take anywhere...

If it has rotating cups, I don't think Val would make it an open headphone - It'd ruin the portability you get by having rotating cups in the first place. My dream headphone would probably be a slightly more balanced M-100 with rotating cups, thicker pads and headband padding, and an aluminum/leather construction.

Crap, I'm drooling now... biggrin.gif

Rotating cups is a no-no for Val, so he won't do it (one less thing to break, head band is the rotation for him.)  XL pad is out is that's that, and aluminum deforms easily so that's not good for the long run, rather titanium/carbon fiber is the way to go.

Regarding rotating  cups, it's actually the opposite. He's been working on the "REVOLVER" for 9 years now, and most of that has been to get the rotating cup mechanism to endure just as much abuse as the newly developed M-100 hinges.

Also - feel free to substitute Aluminum with any other light-weight metalic substance that will look good. As long as it's metal and leather, it'll feel and probably BE more high quality than the M-100's.
