If you checked them with another cable (i.e. the shareplay cable that is also included) and another source to rule out connection problems and the sound is the same -- they might indeed be defective. And then an exchange is the way to go. Where did you get them?

I sold my Momentums off in the end. They sounded a little too congested & a little too V-shaped for my liking. But I've not tried the newer on-ear.

I got the regular black version, as they don't have the new on-ear types in the Apple Store and I am not very interested other than the colors.  Now I totally get other people is saying about the Momentums, as the staging is a bit closer than the M-100.  What surprised me is that although the M-100 have a stronger bass, it is more defused than the Momentum, as the Momentum's bass is more focus at the center giving you a strong punch.  However, I seriously don't think their difference are that big sound wise, especially after amping, but I agree with you that I do like the wider staging of the M-100 over the Momentum.

There's a guy who sale these headphones and i get it from his shop. He told me he went abroad so that he could bought these headphones without any charge like shipping fee. I actually don't know where he buy those but i think they're from Amazon cause i get a pair of shield along with the headphones. And when i bought my M-100 it's still sealed with red ribbon. The QR code, when i scaned and entered them to V-Moda site, it said "the numbers has already been used". My connection is bad at that time so i think maybe i submited it too much. If mine is defective then it's pretty sad frown.gif

Oh no i don't this can distinguish fake or legal items :|.

I just scan the QR Code from the bottom of the box and it say the headphone is verified and sold and been scaned 1 time. Does the 1st scan count as 1 or 0 :|?

If you can rule out connection and cable problems (i.e. you tested the headphones with another source and another cable) I'd talk to the seller... V-Moda will only honor warranty if sold through a valid reseller I guess.

But now can you tell me when scanning the code from the bottom of the box, the 1st scan is count as 0 or 1 scan? Man i'm so nervous right now :|

I think most people outside of IT start counting at 1...

Just contact V-Moda with your serial # if there are any questions about legitimacy.

There is a serial number labelled on the inside of your M-100, give that number to the support and they should able to tell.

Just e-mail V-Moda. They'ee pretty good at getting back in a couple of days. Out of curiosity, can you post pics of your m100? We might be able to tell you if it's a fake or something odd is happening.

I don't see anything fake here. Built quality is amazing, the click hinge, the accessories are high quality built too. The serial is in the left side of the headband, written in "colorful paper" or whatever it is. The inside of the left earpad is sparkling in gold color while the right is silver, or maybe it's just what i see.

Edit: The earcup does "rumble" when in the bass part or when high volume

Ok, i've re-read all the reviews and i realize that my M-100 is completely legal. The only problem here is my ears =_=. I've read a lot of reviews and they all said this headphone has a massive amount of bass, so i think the bass must be so good, and so much while keeping the mid and high at a great level, not some bloated, ****ty bass like Beats. But when i read miceblue's impression, he said that "M-100 has a more neutral bass response", so those basshead like me may think the M-100 lacking in bass. This line strike exactly to my ears. And when i re-think again, those who said this headphone is prominent on bass are audiophile, not a basshead like me. Well, problem solve biggrin.gif

Not to throw your impressions off ... I'm somewhat of a basshead myself and my M100's have a great amount of bass. Enough that I feel the SPL when I play certain music. I'm amping them using a FiiO E12. I play a lot of EDM and Screwed and Chopped music so I'm used to very low notes and frequencies and the M100 feels like its going to vibrate off my head when I play that music.

IMO if you're not getting that kind of bass, then you may want to have them exchanged. V-moda is usually very good about the entire warranty process. (I think you may have to pay for shipping though)
