  3. go to an Apple Store and try the Bowers and Wilkins P5 and see if that bass is good enough for you.  The M-100 by no means lack bass so I think something is not quite right here.  I just demoed the B&O H6 this weekend and it has NO bass at all.  Therefore, in comparsion, the M-100 should have a decent amount of bass out of the box, even just listen from an iPhone at 50% volume with flat EQ.

Agree, it has a goooooooood amount of bass. It's like a boost of 8db over a considered flat headphone. Something is wrong, or maybe that amount is just not enough for you. biggrin.gif

If a 8 db boost in the lows isn't enough for someone then holy crap the guys one over the top bass head.

LOL!

Yeah, if he wants MOAAARR bass, he'd probably be better with Sony XB series, ATH PRO700 MK2, JVC HA-SZ2000, etc. etc.

The other thing you should look at is your source, I've noticed that with the plug on the end of both cables (TRRS) some sources cannot really play them and you get a very distorted low. I ended up needing to use an extension cable with my laptop to get the bass.  Does anyone know of an audio cable (through vmoda or 3rd party that works with the m-100) that has a normal TRS plug on the end?

I've used the XB series, M50, M-80, HD25, IE80, EX600 and JVC FX700. Personally i love M-80's bass most and i just want a little bit more punch and impact in it. The IE80 have perfect amount of everything but i don't like that kind of bass. The XB series are too dark and muddy (imo). And the M-100 bass is some what too soft for me, maybe even weaker than my Earpod.

My DAP is the Touch 5 and no amp. Well i gues i will have to burn it a little more. Hope it work biggrin.gif

It was weird, I tell you.

It's not in your head.  There is a variance in the cables.  I've got five different V-MODA cables and nearly all of them have a different sound.  Luckily the old 3 button iPhone cable I've got sounds the best and that's the one I use most often when I'm out and about connected to my iPad Mini.

Val, I have a confession: I am weak, broke down, and got a pair of Sennheiser Momentum...

But of course V-MODA still scores 2 to 1 vs. Sennheiser in my book.

Considering you've listened to a number of headphones whose bass you can hear, I'm wondering if your M-100s might be defective...Otherwise, I think jdenn's comment about the TRRS (four-contact mini plug) cable causing issues is a good lead. Do you have a standard TRS (three-contact mini plug) cable you can try out?

I've found success with this relatively generic mini-to-mini audio cable on ebay: "Universal JACK 3.5mm Stereo AUXILIARY CABLE CORD CAR AUDIO AUX WIRE Male to Male". It's light, about 40"-44" long (I believe...it's not with me at the moment), fits the M-100 without modification, doesn't seem especially flimsy, and transmits much less microphonics than the stock V-MODA cables.

I hope not too, as I found the black 3 button remote that came with my M-80'sthe better sounding one.

Unfortunately, no frown.gif. I've tried both the SharePlay cable and the SpeakEasy cable in 4 different way but still nothing has changed.

Well of all those headphones i've tried, could you show me which headphone has M-100 bass, or maybe just close to it? Cause right now i think M-100 sound like EX600, bass is just some "pop pop" sound, not "BOOM BOOM" like what i expected

Which one? The new mini on-ear or the older over-ear-wannabe? I actually had the older. Actually Val had a listen to my older Momentums too during a dinner party with some other chaps.

I sold my Momentums off in the end. They sounded a little too congested & a little too V-shaped for my liking. But I've not tried the newer on-ear.

FWIW, if you can, try the m-100 amped. I found that with amplification, the bass quality improves noticeably. What you're after may be too much for a touch g5 to deliver, specially through full size drivers.

In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, I think you may have gotten a defective pair. I also own the Sony MDR EX600 and it's bass is nothing like the M-100. I've owned the EX600 for almost 2 years and the M-100 for almost a year I know the two sigs like the back of my hand. I would contact V-MODA tell them your story and ask for an exchange.

First i appreciate for your help, but i want to keep it, for now at least. V-Moda allow customer to return the headphone within 60 day so if it won't get any better then i will return it. It's really suck cause in my country V-Modas are really rare, which make me really hard to compare it with another pair.

Edit: My M-100 is really bright, of course not as bright as Grados or AKGs but it completely not dark. The mid is smooth, maybe event better than the M-80 and not laid back or recessed. The soundstage is awesome so far. The only problem is the bass frown.gif

Edit 2: Seriously M-100 bass weaker than my Earpod. Really weird
