Both are on my buy list but it seems silly, at this stage, to buy two phones from the same manufacturer that are so close together in price point.

I own both and I compare them in my  video review of the V-80/M-80  and somewhat in my M-100 review.

#1 Rule of Head-Fi:
What may sound bad to you may not sound bad to others. I know of one head-fier who prefers Sol Republic Master Tracks to the ATH-M50.
I bought my girlfriend sol rep. Tracks ultras and I find them to be quite balanced. With a slight mid bass hump. To me they sound like m80s with a little less layering. And not as comfy. As for Bose I diddent say they were bad I just said when switching from a-b m100 vs QC you hear a big difference. I'm sure after about 30 min of "brain burn" things always "improve"

Not really. I used to, then I switched to Neutron when I realized there was some clipping in PowerAmp. Neutron has no such clipping. And I realized I didn't need such a huge EQ.

Well after reading up a bit more on the galaxy nexus' ability to drive headphones, I have found out that its output is actually louder when compared to the nexus 4 when using the same headphones.
Although I have researched amps a bit and found a really cheap and small amp; the fiio e6. Not sure how good it is or of there will be any descirnable difference in sound?
One thing I have realized is that the more time I spend here, the more I begin to change my mind. I started off with a budget of $200 and now Im at $370 to get the m100+ e6. As a student this may not be a wise choice.

Is there any headphones like m80 but over ear? I really like the m80's, its flat but with this lean impactful bass! I really like the impactful bass! Any suggestions? The M100 has a full rich bass compared to the M80

I was about to get my girlfriend the sol republic tracks ultra too, and but I went for the Crossfade LP instead.

I gotta say, after a week of steady burn in and use, the Crossfade LP is pretty dang good.  Great for my portable "work around the yard" setup.

I agree with you. I've seen two people at my local gym wear the LP while working out and my girlfriend likes to run with hers. Seems to be a great portable headphone for listening to bassy music.

Look into some of the cheaper tube gear coming out of China. For $370 you can buy a very nice head-fi tube amp.

I'll compare the two.  I love the M80 so it would be interesting to see if the M100 will be a good upgrade if you already own the M80.

I would just buy the m100s and for cost of a m80 I would get the Sony mdr 1r or Logitech UE 6000
