I come from owning the white pearl M-80 and I really don't miss anything about it in regards to style and looks. Imho they made an awesome job on the Matte. And it still turn heads at the gym or when I'm out and about (not that I like that really)

But like its been said before, is all about preference. Doowutchyalike!

I agree 100% percent. It does have its sparkle. I actually saw the white pearl lp, and after owning a lot white electronics, I still preferred the black. It does turn heads, but after owning it it really have beautiful details and goes with any thing I wear and every shields.

Boy I'm kind of glad I didn't end up getting the matte black M-100. It looks pretty cheesy in-person to me, almost like a D.I.Y. matte finished paint job to be completely honest...

Regarding earpads, the black ones feel much stiffer to me than the grey pads.

In my opinion the matte black doesn't really look cheesy but more of a stealth industrial look. I prefer the matte black over the white, but I may reconsider. The matte black when shown to all my friends and family said they preferred the matte black. Also even the beats fanboys said the black looks sick and the white ones not so slick. The white some what turns me off.

Also is true that the m100 are better than the LCD-2? I saw in an youtube comment. I trust Dale's reviews. The M100 is a spectacular headphone.

Yeah, I guess the two trends had gone on for so long that people forgot my original review of the VERZA already...

For anyone wondering, I asked a v-moda person and they said the "red" shield matches the red accents on Shadow

Yeah it's all a personal preference in the end. I was looking at the matte black version today at the Microsoft Store and it really just looked like a matte black spray-painted headphone. >.>

It depends on what you consider better. LCD-2 has more bass slam (M-100's are boomy in comparison), rich textured mids, and a smoother treble response that doesn't sacrifice extension; likewise for the Mad Dog + Alpha pads but to a lesser extent.

M-100's have more sparkle but it also makes some instruments sound a bit metallic in comparison to Mad Dog + Alpha pads. Maybe the person associates this as being "better".

The iDevices' amps are pretty good, so an external amp shouldn't make that much of a difference, without any EQ's applied, for an easy-to-drive headphone like the M-100.

I find very little difference in the stock sound of both my iPod Touch 5G/iPad Mini and the flat setting on my Fiio e17...so you're right.  The only real difference is being able to tweak the treble and bass levels individually without using the built in equalizer on the iDevices.  So that is the one benefit to amping with something as customizable as the e17.

I guess its all person preference, It does look sprayed on lol. But After you change the shields it makes it look different. The reason why I asked it is better since I think the M100 is a great value for a $300 headphone which could be easily driven.

?? Isn't that a good thing? Pure white plastic will likely discolor over time, so pearl coating or plastic will be a little bit resistant to that, plus it looks better.

V-MODA actually calls it "white silver".

The M-80 is called "white pearl" on the other hand.
