And to think, I almost went to watch Evil Dead tonight.  Gotta listen to Kelly Clarkson's "What Doesn't Kill You" or Bee Gee's "Staying Alive" on loop with my M-100's!!!

Wonder if the one button mic one will fair any different

The one button mic works fine.  I tried it with music and made an hour long call with it to my sister in Cali.  It's a shame that the SharePlay doesn't work with the One X  but that's OK.  More reason to get a VAMP VERZA (or similar DAC/AMP).  :P

* FIRST IMPRESSIONS FROM A NEWB!!!

A package from Amazon was waiting on my doorsteps on Friday night.  I giddily took the package upstairs for an unboxing.  The packaging for the M-100's wasn't anything really fancy, the $30 AKG K430's I picked up off of woot.com has much cooler packaging but that's about all they have.

The first thing I noticed when I plucked the white/grey M-100's out of it's clamshell case was how hefty and solid they felt.  I've never picked up another headphone with such a solid feel.  The cables were nicely tucked in and wrapped with a velcro cable tie.  Very Nice!  I plugged them into my  iPod touch and was like, "WOAH!!!".  These things have a much fuller sound compared to my ATH M-50's, my previous headphone of choice.  The mid's are actually there and that BASS!!!  OMG!!!  It was so deep and accentuated.  I LOVE IT!!!

Overall sound has much more detail and resolution than the M-50's.  These headphones just make me want to go through and re-listen to everything and anything.  The only thing that I think the M-50's do a bit better are the trebles.  The M-50's have a sparkle which I don't find  in the M-100's but overall the M-100's sound quality are a huge improvement over the M-50's.

The M-100's also showed me how good or bad my source components are.  I used to listen to everything on my HTC One X but the using the M-100's is just so painful compared to my iPod and MacBook Pro.  Everything on the One X just seemed dull with or without Beats audio.  Gotta get a VAMP VERZA to fix that.

On the issue of comfort, I find the M-100's very comfortable and am able to listen to them for hours.  They fit like a glove on my noggin.  The only time they get uncomfortable is when I crank up the volume and am totally rocking out.  Oh, did I mention, you can crank these babies up and there's very little distortion.  It's so dangerous using these puppies.

I've been listening to the M-100's every second I can.  They are my new best friends.  Now I just need a VAMP VERZA to clean up the crappy DAC on my HTC One X and to totally rock out!

If I ever take these things off my head I'll post some pics but I just have the standard white/grey w/o custom shields so it's nothing you guys haven't ever seen.

VIVA LA M-100!!!

Nice review!

The M-100 is indeed a nice step-up from the M-50. The bass on the M-100 is indeed quite full. I prefer a flatter sound myself but I have an HD 25 1-ii for when I need that.

The more time I spend with the M-100, the more I appreciate the build and the case. For someone who is traveling often, it's a great to have a full-sized sealed headphone that packs up so small.

My only wish is for a long cable, like a 2-3 meter coiled cable like you can get with a professional studio monitor from Senn or Shure, etc.

Thanks for the comment.  Wish I had more headphones to compare with but I guess all in good time.

Seriously, I didn't know what built like a tank meant till I picked these bad boys up.

There was a insert that came with my M-100's that showed a picture of a Coil Pro Cable.  I'm sure it'll be available soon.  wink.gif

I hope so. I saw mention of the CoilPro in a Instagram tweet from December 2012 but since then, nothing.

Yes, I think the main demographic for the Coil Pro cable is for DJ's. I would use one at home, but the SharePlay cable does the job for the most part.

Cool!  At least you'll have them soon and WITH custom shields.  I'm too lame to try to create a shield design.  : P
