If a headphone's cable is removable and the stock wires do not come with an inline mic or music control, will it work to replace it with a wire that includes these features?

If the mic unit and the control unit are in no way connected to the IEM and are part of the same cable as a separate unit, I don't see why it wouldn't work...

But hey.. what do I know lol :P

haha I'm curious because if I could buy a headphone and replace the wire to have a mic and iPod control, it'd be perfect

Some cables have a stereo mini jack (3 conductor) at the top that goes into the earcup, an inline remote for iPhone, and a stereo mini jack (4 conductor) at the bottom.  The remote basically is directly connected to the 4th contact of the 4 conductor plug that goes into the iphone...but for all intents and purposes otherwise, it's the same stereo mini to mini cable without a remote.  So, tentatively, I say yes.

Came across these when looking at Shure IEMs...

Guess this means it's possible and has been done :)

Hope that helps smily_headphones1.gif
