Anyone own W3, FX700 and TF10?

I have TF10 and would like to know how they compare with the other V or U shaped W3 and FX700.

Thank you.

I've owned W3 and TF10, I would say they are both v shaped, but there are some differences.  W3 has more bass quantity and especially more midbass, that can sometimes bleed into the other frequencies.  I feel that the TF10 has more deep bass.  Mids, both are not in line with the rest of the spectrum, W3 is slightly more forward imho.  Treble TF10 has sparkle, but it's more laid back and airy, W3 treble is more aggressive and was silibant for me at times.  I don't find TF10 treble fatiguing, but due to aggressiveness found W3 treble fatiguing.  Soundstage is about the same, slightly wider on W3, but both have wide SS.  I feel that imaging is about the same on both.  Hope this helps some.

Seems TF10 is the better phone.

Thanks for the reply.

Do what I did, get the UM56 custom sleeves with the W3 and you will be in sound heaven. The TF10s are not a better IEM in my view. Plus, if the TF10s break, you will get a UE700 replacement from Logitech under warranty. The mid-bass hump on the W3s is greatly exaggerated if you use the right tips. And when it comes to comfort, no comparison.

That's not a fact at all. The TF10 is still in production!!

@OP When it comes to V shaped, the TF10 is a clear winner in my book.

I think W3 sounds better than TF10.  TF10 midrange has an annoying veil

Never heard the W3, but I own the TF10, W4 and I use to own the FX700.

My view: The TF10 are my least favorite sounding out of the bunch unless you get some type of upgrade replacement cable for it. I recently picked up a $30 Fiio RC-UE1 replacement cable for the TF10, and it's one of the best investments I've ever made for the TF10. While I still won't say it puts the TF10 over the FX700 or W4, it put it a lot closer. Mids are the greatest improvement by being pushed quite forward (especially in the details of the vocals). Bass is deeper and more extended. It's a bit warmer and more engaging sound IMO.

The W4, however, has more sub-bass (extension), quality of bass and instrument separation than the TF10 (albeit it's more of a neutral earphone). It's instrument separation is something I haven't really heard in any other universal earphone (well, it sounds different but the EX1000 would compete in instrument separation). It's a much warmer sound than the TF10, but I think the W4 has more micro details than the TF10.

Finally, the FX700 has the most recessed mids of the three, but may have the best sound quality of the three based on its timbre. For the longest I the FX700 was my favorite IEM of all-time. I don't own it anymore, but it's still highly regarded to me. The best bass I've heard in a universal. If recessed mids don't bother you I would recommend the FX700 over the other two.

But it doesn't change my mind, the W3s, with the right tips, top the TF10s for both overall sound quality and comfort (which to me is a critical aspect of in-ear phones). Just commenting on it being such a slam dunk that the TF10s are superior. You can alter the TF10 sound with aftermarket cables, so that is an advantage.

Other than custom sleeves, have you found other tips that work well with W3?

I wonder how joker rates W3/TF10 on SQ.

I dont own either TF10 or W3, so im not sure how usefull posting this would be

I own the FX700, and it's amazing

closed sound to a full size can I've ever heard, sometimes I forget I'm wearing them and think the musics coming from some tower speakers

only had them for 2 weeks, but since getting them i've shrugged aside every other phone I own

they've been compared to denons d2k and d5k sound, while I can't comment on those two I have owned denon d7000's for 3 or 4 months (sold) and I must say I enjoy the fx700 more (based on memory).

the quantity of bass is a bit much for some people, but the quality is simply stunning, unobtrusive, never bleeds in to any of the other fq, its like being encompassed in a pillow of bass

the isolation aspect people are going berserk over is overrated... they isolate fine, at my firm I can turn it up to a bit over half (which is pretty loud) and no one sitting beside me can hear them

anyways, don't take the fx700 off your list yet

Eric, nice review.  Where did you buy the Fiio RC-UE1 cable? Definitely interested.

Seems the W4 is the most technically proficient, but maybe not as much fun as TF10. And, you've always had love for both GR07 and W4. For me, I think W4 would be too boring.

Having TF10, I don't know if I want another phone with recessed mids as per FX700. I have un-opened FXT90 (2nd times a charm?).

I am waiting for MG7 (picked up on sale for $100) so I think I will get to taste some good quantity/quality bass/sub bass.

olear, yes, I think you would find the W4 boring. It's even boring to me sometimes, but overall I love it.

I found the cable on Amazon.com. Just put in RC-UE1 in the search under electronics. They only had a few, so I would suggest looking into it as soon as possible.

where on sale? i've been wanting to give those a listen too

popped my MTPG's back in for a few minutes last night, and I must say those are still a pretty dam good iem. nothing close to the SQ or airyness of the 700's, but pretty respectable nonetheless

Atrio.me and you'll find the code, if the sale is still on, on the MG7 thread
