About to make my purchase, just want to confirm it before dropping $300..

I am buying 2 pairs of headphones as I can't seem to find a single headphone that fits my criteria:

I use them for FPS games (soundstage is important), regular games, movies, music (trance/hip hop/inception style music), and working out/public use. I prefer closed, with decent bass.

I was deadset on getting the D2000's but they have crappy warranty and a defect (screws) for $230, and they won't work for the gym.

I considered the DT 770 Pros but they wouldn't work for public use/gym either, and they seem average for gaming.

I'm about to buy the AD700 for FPS, and the VMODA M-80 for music/movies/regular games/gym/public usage.

The total is $306 for both.. good or bad decision?

I think you will like your pairing.  The AD700 is a bit light in the bass region, but very comfortable and nice for most music.  The M80 is awesome everywhere else so you will have a pair of headphones that will suit just about every need excluding perhaps studio work.

I say go for it.

X2. Neither of them are really for me, but they'll be a great fit for your applications and will show the the major differences in extremes between high-end cans.

If you dont care much about isolation, the M80's are fine.

Despite all the advice in this thread I went ahead and bought a pair of Denon D2000's for $230 shipped.. they are a like new open box model from Electronics Expo.

I wasn't a fan of the bass on the AD700 and I'm not comfortable dropping $200 on a pair of M-80's that are the first audiophile type headphones for that company.

I decided I'll keep the D2000's for fps/games/music/movies and I'll try them out in the gym, but if they don't work out I will wait and buy some better portable headphones in the future.

I'm worried though since the D2000's don't have warranty and they might've been a floor model if I'm not mistaken; this is good for burn in time, but the headphones are nearly 5 years old so I don't know if I just bought 5 year old headphones. Are D2000's still manufactured? If this is a floor model I'm hoping it wasn't too old.. would hate for one of the ears to stop working or something.

The D2000's are good phones for home listening.

They have loads of bass, something not very good for picking details on fps though.

I heard they were better than DT770 Pros.. not sure if serious. Aren't these second or very close to the DT 880's for gaming/music/fps?
