Do W3000ANV sound that much better to be worthy of extra 600$ compared to W1000x ? I am really thinking of getting W3000 (well, hope they still will be available in 6 months, dont have enough money atm) but as I bought W1000X few months I am a bit curious how they compare to each other. I have some money comming around in next few months and eventhought I planned on building HTPC and getting TV, I cant stop thinking of getting them, especially when I am seeing these W3000ANV beauties in limited edition.

There's only one way to find out. 

Do most limited edition woodies have good resale value? I'd like to get a W3000ANV to add to my AD2000 and W1000X, but it would soothe my mind better if they hold up in prices.

Well, I am already considered being crazy around here for getting cans for almost 600e (with another audio equipment worth of almost 1000e), cant imagine how my parents will react when I tell them I want to get another headphones for twice as much without even considering selling the old ones :D I wish I got into less expensive hobbies (audio-technica lover + bowling player = budget killer :D ). The biggest problem is, even if W3000ANV will be avi in June (by that time all money for a project I am working on should be transferred to me) I will probably have just enough for headphones only if I wont spend a cent till then. So I just have to hope my family will be generous when it comes to "college graduation" gifts :D

Near as I can tell the W2002 sell for close to the same price, but if you factor in inflation, they are probably a poor investment.

Right now you can still buy W3000ANV, there might fetch a premium once they sell out.  I know it's selection bias, but people are selling their other headphones before they sell their W3000ANV.

I'm not really a AT collector per se, at the time I purchased most of my vintage AT woodies I got them for a very good price that I just couldn't refuse. All of my vintage AT woodies are complete with it's original box, papers, and are in excellent condition. Currently I have all of them up in storage. As far as resale value of vintage AT woodies, most of them I've seen were priced near or more than their original selling price dependent on the condition of the cans and whether they come complete with it's box and papers. Resale value is also dependent on what buyers are willing to pay, so not all of them get sold for big bucks.

Ya, the first sign of a problem is denial, and no it's not a river in Egypt. Had an opportunity years back to score a pair of L3000G from a seller in Japan, backed out of the deal because I already had the L3000 and I wanted to purchase a amp for which I was saving up for quite a while.

Thats a lot of rare headphones one can only dream of owning! In your place I would save up for W3000ANV tbh, there are plenty of W1000X and you could get them easily any time, but I can imagine W3000ANV being sold out in few months (I just hope I am wrong, I want to get my hands on one of these, but who knows for how long I will be saving my moneyz).

I do like the thought of acquiring new cans and still have money left over, but the L3000 is a keeper.

I might consider getting the W3000ANV if I can audition one and if it's sound signature is near the L3000 or better. The W3000ANV's limited edition status and it's Urushi finish hasn't spurred me to pull the trigger since I already own the W11JPN and W2002 both which are limited edition and both have an Urushi finish.
