Recommend me a DAC under $400

Thread Starter

I'm after a DAC and the following are my requirements

- Under $400 (but as cheap as possible)

- Good measured performance (link the review if you can) - I'm just after a simple, well engineered product that doesn't break the bank and isn't designed by ear or whatever. Not saying measurements are sufficient for my enjoyment, but someone else's experiences aren't either.

- Has optical in

- oh and solid state obv

Also, does anybody know where they do audio reviews with measurements, other than Stereophile?

Cheers

I use a Matrix Mini-i and don't think you can do much better for the money. I like it better than the DacMagic which costs more and has no head amp.

I use it solely as a DAC with a LD MKVII+ amp.
