For those of you considering buying the EM4, you may find my experiences with the EM4 interesting. I no longer have the EM4 but instead the EM6, the reason being explained towards the end of this post.

Initially I had a hard time getting along with the EM4, and you can pretty much read all about it in this thread.

As stated in the other thread, your description of the EM4 does not resemble my EM4, but your description of the EM6 does.  I am glad you are getting the sound you were looking for.

Hello,

When I first received my EM4, I had not only fit issue but also factory driver settings issue that tend to cut the treble to early. I told ES that confirmed it and when I received back my NEW EM4, the sound was perfectly tuned and now all I can say is that I love it to death...

It's my first custom, ok, but but all I can say, having had a lot of top tier universal IEM (Shure SE 530, W3, Um3X, W4, PFE 232, Sm3...) is that it's impossible to compare it to any universal IEM I had... despite my first (bad) experience with it...

And having spoken to Franck Lopez, the EM6 does nothing better than the EM4, speakin about SQ only, from what I understood is that the Em6 has less treble at the top...(stage monitor).

Wait. wait. aren't you really crazy about the EM4 and did lots of comparisions and impressions?  lol

I will be getting my EM6 in a couple of days. Shame I have nothing to compare now. My SE 5 WAY is walking slowly to me, hopefully I can get it within next week. So I can do a little comparsions of EM6, JH16 & 5 way.

Hope my EM 6 doesn't sound werid,  and more importantly the fitting is good since I am sick of sending back IEMs to ear sonics anymore because I always did it like 5 times for different reasons.

EM4 >=< EM6. As the technology Earsonics have, I don't really think 6 must greater than 4. Just the 2 more drivers create more bass for Live record.

Impossible?  Because the EM4 is better than the rest, or other reasons such as sound signature?

Nice, I am looking forward to comparisons with the JH16 and 5-way!

Not more bass as there are still 2 bass drivers (and plenty of capability), but the midrange and treble has more headroom along with less treble emphasis for stage use.  When the musicians are on stage and crank it, they don't want all that treble!

Exactly...more bass and less treble...

When I sent back my EM4 to ES, I saw that the EM6 were out and I spoke to Franck Lopez and asked him to upgrade them. He directly told me that the EM6 was tuned for stage performers and that it was not a good idea to upgrade them and despite I insisted and was able to pay the diference, he told me that for "audiophile" listeners, the EM4 were better...

The bass drivers output the same amount of bass from my understanding...

"impossible" is a way to say that the EM4 are so differents in evey point and so better than top tier Universals that for me it's like trying to compare a Ferrari to an Opel Corsa...

Sorry for my Englis but "more "headroom" does that mean that it is more airy, oppened sound (stage)? Or the opposite?

More headroom means they retain their dynamics, or ability to still have greater peaks and transients within the music, when played loud.

Thank you very much.

That means that this difference is felt only when played at high volume but as audiophile, who is listening music at such volume levels?

I received a mail from ES telling me the difference between EM6 and EM4.

EM6

- More headroom

- Emphasis in the deep bass

- Less warm

- Treble less thin, less soft than Em4 but more textured

These differences doesn't make it better but just a little bit different.

But what he talso told me is that there's NO difference AT ALL in speed, separation, soundstage and depth...

I hate use USPS to send any thing now. Out of United State it just take forever to get to destination. My EM4 still on the airplane fly to France. Made me ordered a EM from Future Sonics to compare them as well.

WIth my few weeks comparison between EM6 and EM4, your comments are absolutely correct. But, for sure the bass response of EM6 is much powerful than EM4.
