e9 hmm and hd598's...

Alright so right now my rig is the dac destroyer into an E9 I just got about 3 days ago. My music source is mostly FLAC from my Vortexbox.  I also have the AT ad700's...

I recently just ordered the hd598's and q701's from amazon. I am going to see which I like better (if either) and send the other one back. The shipping on the 598's was faster so I am currently listening to these. The q701's will be here tomorrow. So far I think that my ad700's have more detail and I think I like them a little more. The 598's just sound kinda... congested? And I think the bass is a little much or "boomy" compared to the ad700's.

Now when I play the 598's out of the e9 I think they sound even more bassy and more congested. If I just go straight into the Dac I think they sound better.

Do these headphones sound better after break in? Is it not fair to judge them this fast? Am I crazy with these findings? I am also not sure If I like the ad700 with the e9 more than just the DAC either.... back to more testing I guess

I am a little disappointed because I expected them to sound better. And A LOT better than the ad700's. Also, I LOVE the look of these and the feel.

I've seen other reviewers of the HD-598 say the headphones sound better after 50 hours of break in.

Ask about the HD-598s in the "Sennheiser HD-598 Appreciation Thread".

any good ways to break em in? I'll leave it playing all night. My problem is I feel the ad700 sounds superior for 100 dollars less :/

OK so I am listening to the q701's at the moment... LOVE EM!

They are like everything the ad700 was only better and more bass. I think they actually have the perfect amount of bass.

Like these way more than the hd598's so those are going back (although i still love their look and feel).

how do you guys normally break in your headphones? Is there a program I can use or just keep music on shuffle

just enjoy the music man...

Seriously, if you enjoy them now, just enjoy them with the knowledge of knowing that they will get better with age (if you believe that anyways).
