What brand or kind of headphones would be best for synthpop/acoustic songs?

Hey!  I'm new to buying headphones and was wondering if this forum could help me decide on a good quality pair of headphones for my sort of music.

I usually listen to songs that are synthpop and acoustic.  By that, I mean these kinds of songs:

With the occasional

I know youtube songs aren't the best quality, but it's just to give a small example ..  What sort of brand or kind of headphones would be best for this kind of music?  Open or Closed? Grado? Sennheiser? Phillips? Audio-Technica?......... Monster?

So far, I've checked out the Sennheiser HD25/238 and the V-Moda M80, but they're usually classified as "DJ Headphones," so I'm not too sure..

Thanks so much!  Loving this forum so far

Hi Mini!

I listen to some similar kinds of music at times. Unfortunately its very hard to answer your question as it stands, because we need a better idea of what you actually want out of your headphones. Even each model of headphone from each manufacturer is different.

For instance, when you say the M-80's are DJ headphones, all that generally means is that DJ headphones have to be 1. More durable, since DJ's use them all the time 2. Tend to be more bassy, as bass is the hardest thing to hear in a noisy club 3. Closed and isolating.

So here's some questions that if you answer, we can probably help you more.

1. Did you actually like the Sennheiser HD25 or M-80? What did you like about them / what didn't you like etc? What are some other headphones or audio gear you liked the sound of?

2. Do you want something more bassy, or more clear?

3. Do you want something that sits on top of the ear, or around it?

4. Do you need to use it from a portable device like an iPod or are you staying at home with it?

5. Do you want the earphones to be isolating (block out sound) or that isn't important?

6. Very importantly, how much do you want to spend? XD

Anyway, check out this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/433318/shootout-93-portable-headphones-reviewed-pioneer-se-mj71-coloud-colors-added-9-4-11

It will give you some options and give you a better idea of where the HD25 and the M-80 sit among some other popular headphones. (Spoiler: they sit very highly.)

I have not tried the Sennheiser HD25 or the M-80, but I heard good things about them.  Not mentioning sound, I liked their portability, detachable cable, and aesthetics xD

I'm a bit new to the audiophile world, but I would like a pair of headphones that, for a lack of better terms, make music sound more "natural" than "neutral/analytical."  I'd like for clarity, but I don't want to sacrifice the bass.. I'm not sure if you understand what I'm saying or if it's even possible..  I'll be mostly using it from my laptop and iPhone, since I'm a college student and amps might not be convenient/affordable.

Sorry if I sound noobie, but a college budget doesn't allow me to buy headphones (especially high end ones) impulsively.  My budget would be around 200 dollars.  Thank you so much for your help!

These are the two songs I usually use to test headphones..
