We need more impressions of the DX100! Having pre-ordered the DX100 today I'm getting impatient to hear it, given the positive feedback its been getting. rolleyes.gif

I would like to see an unboxing video of DX100, and some photos of the internals.Anybody have a link?

Thanks

Nobody has opened it yet to my knowledge.  Removing the screws does nothing.  Page 1 has my unboxing photos.

You need to use a special tool or you will scar up the sides.

I'm guessing the screws are mostly for show and that the true way of opening it is like opening an iPod Classic, with the prying and the tabs and the yada yada.  Pretty sure if I pried it open and messed it up, I'd then have to go ahead and pry out my eyes.

Edit: we need to summon the Jalo to comb Erji for anyone intrepid that has one, then see if he can convince them to crack it open.  Unless Jamato wants to go first?

No, they are there holding the case also.

Crazy, I am listening with the HE-6 and this thing is driving them! And they sound good! I put on some bass heavy stuff trying to get the amp to bottom it out and it plays as loud I care to listen. Very good dimension to the sound as in nice depth and transparency. So far I am enjoying the LCD-2, ESW10 and the HE-6 more than the EDition 9, as they just give out more detail and a more plausible sound field. You do get near the max volume setting but not quite but I am still surprised that the DX100 can drive the HE-6.

The HE-500, which are easier to drive, also sound very good on the DX100 and possibly a bit better than the HE-6 and I would attribute this to the higher demand for overall power for the HE-6.

Have anyone tried playing files like .ac3 and dts wav on the DX 100?

Really don't think it can decode multichannel, it's not that kind of DAC, but I could be wrong.  Are you looking to watch videos with 5.1 soundtracks?

Wouldn't that require a 5.1 ch headphone if there exist such a thing?

Peter, my next job combing through ERJI will cost you 50 cents per page :-) After my last translation of the DX100 review, I was approached by the owner (who was also part of the ERJI official translation group) to joint them for future jobs
:-).

2 quick questions, How does the DX100 handle album art and does it play music files by selecting folders?

I have tagged my files to play by folders, and with album art embedded into the metadata of each song file with a cover.jpg in the folder file.

Thanks.

You can play via folder view, playlists, artists, etc.
