Nice! Do you think the dx100 powers the LCD-2's adequately?
Do you plan on adding another amp?

The DX-100 seems to power them very well. I'm on hi gain with volume set at 230 and nothing seems to be lacking.

I've ordered a minimax kit but this is for the fun of building it rather than any perceived need for it. I'll report back once it's up and running, however, it could be some time from kit arriving to me completing a working amp...

Today I run my DX100 with an external amp for the first time (TTVJslim) after I got to know the SQ of my DX100 quite well, to find that the weakest link in the DX100 is the amp section.
With the TTVJ , the sound became more spacious, the mids are fuller, treble sparks and SQ became colored, but very enjoyable.

It brought its digital signature to a warm , lush and analogue like. The bass is better focused in the upper/mid, but less focused in general, bit muddy, but its now more engaging, yeah , this is the magic word....engaging...
Female vocals are now...beautifully different.
Many songs which I listened many times on the DX100 sounded not better , but different to an extent it made it more enjoyable than without the amp.

All I can say , is that the DX100 is now thicker, and with the Hifiman 500, it paired beautifully and the synergy was more than I hoped for.

I have yet to hear any integrated amp match the better stand alone amps out there.

There's a white one?  I know some people wanted the silver/black concept photo one.  But once you see the blacked out DX100 in person with that frosty fresh magnesium top case...

I agree about the bulk, people need to only compare the DX100 to complete stacks if they want to make a size comparison, or at least only compare its sound to an iPhone headphone output since I don't know of a thinner setup that sounds anything like it.

i havent really got a decent look at any of the colours offered ,so what is this  frosty fresh magnesium top case you spoke of

Seems you were well into it . What colour choice is it ?

Cheers

Agreed, but I still intend to use mine in the car. I have to drive a fair bit for work, so having that little bit better sound quality (compared to straight out of my iPhone) is worth it for me, though that wasn't my purpose for buying it.

It seems to be very ortho-compatible. It's a touch harsh-sounding with my Magnums and nicer with my old AT orthos.

The strange thing is that it seems to suck with other headphones. I found it a great match with my orthos and the HE-500.

Must be Current.  I wonder how many amps it can push.

I didn't ask for Ohms law.  Feel free to apply it though to all the orthos in question.  I was just wondering out loud, don't really care tbh.  The DX100 won't drive an Ortho like my Sansui.

Hardly transportable ...

Yes it is.  I have a car.  Maybe not portable.

  But neither is the LCD.

Wrong Sansui as you can see in my sig.
