Of course adding the PB2 will realize a higher output power capability due to the higher voltage swing, but given the ease that the DX100 drives the 600 ohm Beyers, I doubt that it would be worth the expense of both money and additional components that you would need to carry to make it worthwhile, as the Beyers sound just fine when driven only by the DX100. I get more than enough volume at a setting of 220 (high gain)

Yeah I dont need those. As long as I have my ears :)
iPod/CLAS/
iPod/foster
Pb2/DB2
DB2/SR71b
Is there a clear improvement of hires stuffs over 16/44.1? Does anyone has the same track recorded in different resolution and can do a comparison and note the difference?
I am very curious if I coax out of the DX100 into DB2/PB2 or SR71b and go full balance to JH13/LCD/HD800 or any other popular phones, will it sound better than the DX100 in SE mode?
We all live vicariously through you until the DX100 is available again. Thanks for so accommodating to our requests.

Guys it sounds fine to describe the sound of the DX100, but until someone compare to some known entity, we still won't know how good this thing is. The followings are some popular set ups or systems on headfi and we will all know how good the DX100 is if there are some comparisons done:

I thought on buying this one http://www.xpalpower.com/us/products/xp8000/
Another question just popped up my mind. I'd like to be able to use my DX100 + Spiral Ears 5-way not only as my mobile setup but also when I'm somewhere with only my notebook (like on a holiday trip somewhere) where I won't be able to use my speakers/headphones/normal amps etc by using the micro usb port of the DX100 and connect it to the usb port of my notebook and directly listen to stuff I have saved on my notebook (music files I might have stored on the notebook but not on the DX100 or even watching some movie for instance).
So I've read that the DX100 can't be used as a USB DAC so far due to not having a digital input. How are the chances to get it working over the micro usb port to use it as a USB DAC and AMP in one package?

It would double the time since it states 2000mA at 12 volts. I guess the size is about the same as the DX100.
I am listening to some 24/96 organ music with the LCD-2. Unbelievable bass reproduction.
With only 24 hours on the 100, I notice the bass is increasing in presence. On Luther Allison, "Pay it Forward" Idols in Mind, it is solid but the rest of the sound is still clean. This is a 44.1kHz 16 bit recording.

Jam, could it be just the LCD2? The LCD2 tends to give great bass regardless of what you plug it into.
Also, if you already have 24 hours on the 100, how many hours did it last before you have to charge it each time? Don't tell me you haven't charge it yet

Oh, I forgot to recharge. . . . . kidding.
I don't know yet as I am just trying to get smooth with the operations and this is the first Android item I have ever used so I am learning on my own. Also, I just want to get it burned in. And yes, the LCD-2 have great bass but part of the point is, the DX100 controls the bass on them and does a very good job of it. The bass on the JH13Pros, which I was using a little while ago and the Koss PortaPros (which I really like and think are a extreme bargain with slight modifications), is also very, very good.
I do want to get a real feel for how long the charge lasts. I do not want to carry around a battery pack but at 8 hours or that area, for everything I would be fine. I went for a run and hike earlier for a few hours and used up a little of the current but it was just barely down. I am recharging now as I have to go out again and I just want to get to know this DAP.
I do notice that on the micro SD cards I got that not all adapters work, even the ones that come with the SD card. I have a 6 class and 10 class and my computer would not recognize the 10 so I figured it was my computer and class 10 and the Transcend card but I change the adapter and it was fine.
I do notice that with Class 10 on the Miicro SD card, download is much faster. I downloaded Cat Stevens, Tea for the Tillerman, which is 1.2 gb and it went much faster than the class 6 card.

Has anyone confirmed that it will play aiff and alac music files. With alac, can you go into itunes and drag files into the player. This looks like it has the potential to be my first audiophile dap. Thanks.
Thanks, Jam, I have been told not to use the class 10 because it is too fast. A Class 6 is plenty adequate for what we need plus it is more stable. Unless you are using it for fast action camera, I think Class 6 works well. I like the Tea For the Tillerman also, too bad "Morning is Broken" is not on that album.
some new pics for your pleasure.
