I'm using GoVibe Vestamp, it is a nice USB DAC, and headphone amp.
btw i found the uha6 mkii and govibe vestamp are pretty in the same price range...
anyone did comparison between them?

I was planing to use an iPHONE + SOLO -dB DAC + SR71b amplifier until I saw this "AUDIOPHILE" DAP: the DX100.
So... I thought I finaly found my "all in one" AUDIOPHILE portable ring.
But then....I see here many peoples using the DX100 along with an Amp (RaySamuel, ALO...). This makes me puzzeled a bit since I thought that this "AUDIOPHILE" DAP was supposed to include already an AMP of quality much better than the one in the Smartphone and low profile DAP.
So... is the internal AMP really of lesser quality than those dedicated AMP from RAY or ALO ?
And then, if I continue on this line, is the internal DAC good enough or should be also bypassed ?
thanks
PS : Anyone has heard the NEW DAP from iRIVER : AK100 ? How does it compare with the DX100

The amp inside of the DX100 is excellent. Some people just enjoy trying other amps for a different flavor, including myself. I really like the combination of the Intruder and the DX100, just plain excellent balanced sound. The DX100 by itself is also excellent and needs no support, IMO. Variety is the spice of life, they tell me.

The amp isn't necessary but they will make the sound even better IMO. The DX100 amp will crush any phone. But if you wanna take it further you have that option :).

Thats the beauty or curse about this addiction as I have both the DX100 and the RX3B. The amp in the DX100 is a killer amp and literally will crap all over an iPhone per se however the geek audiophile in me that just wants that "little bit more" and yes that extra $650US gets you "just that little bit more" IMO

Yes the original Star Trek rules. Live long and prosper Spock. Kirk never said Beam Me Up Scotty.

X2 Room40.
Having auditioned the DX100 with the ALO RX3 I have to agree on the sound quality improvement but I won't agree with the price set on it.
Lol, totally agree.
Ive got my DX100 up for sale..
.... having second thoughts
Oh no! What changed your mind?
I think he's having second thoughts about selling it ;).
So did you sober up and close the classified?
I only had a brief session with the Rx mk IIIb, DX100 and 8.A and what I remember most wast the noise, I found that it added an unmistakeable hiss to an otherwise pristine signal chain and I can't ignore stuff like that. I do remember it improving the soundstage and separation, but so does the Heir Rendition 1 at half the price. I'd love to spend some more time wtih the mk IIIb, but I don't see myself spending $650 + shipping + humongous import tax to audition it.

Sorenssim do yourself a favor and go for the Triad L3 man lol. This thing is killer. It needs a good PSU though to get its true power :P. I can honestly say now this amp with my DACport LX is even more transparent than the UHA6 MKII with Op Amp 209. I think the real problem for me with the Leckerton is it is lacking in the dynamic range in comparison to the amount of transparency it has. Hard to explain but that compression is what is really bothering me in the end and leading to the harsh sound I was complaining about. Just an amazing amp man :). Also regarding hiss, while the Triad isn't completely black with no music playing it isn't audible at all with music playback. If anything you'll know when you turn the amp on. On high gain you can hear a slight hiss but generally not audible either when music is playing. You will not hear hiss at all on low gain with music going. Not even in quite passage from what I'm experiencing.
Ahhh. I thought he meant he was having second thoughts about keeping it.

I listened to it single ended with Fit Ear TG!334's. Definitely heard the hiss and mentioned it to the owner (AnakChan). However it did make a noticeable improvement in the low end. I believe AnakChan was getting his RX3 gain lowered to remove the hiss, which would make it quite an amp. Still more money than I could justify but still a nice amp. Is that opinion ironic coming from someone who owns TG!334's and a DX100?
