It was Dr. Ebbetts. He stopped his project when he heard to release of the 2009 CD's but many still found his better. They were ripped from many vinyls, finding the best ones with the best sound depending upon where the vinyl was in the mastering from the mother.

Nice to learn stuff i was un informed on

 

i wonder how they compare to the Beatles official USB box . i got that as a gift before i left home to care for my dad

 

i have a few still on my DX100 . Tho the set i left at home . Some pretty sweet sounds from the fab four .

In my own humble opinion, I think most of these companies, when they develop the hardware and design a good dap, they are so taken about their SQ achievement, to an extent they think that we "buyers", will overlook the software limitations , sacrificing it  for the SQ.
But they don't know , that by making  a wonderful dap "SQ wise" and throwing  a buggy firmware, this is killing the "Package".
 
A dap is a balance between Hardware and software, both should be given the up most attention, to compliment each other, but the opposite is happening and most of the time we get in our hands a wonderful hardware with a very buggy OS/player, and the strange thing , these bugs with a good programmer with a keen eye, could clean almost all these bugs (which mostly are simple and easy to fix).
 
But who listens.
 
Look at Sony, although its still living in a different Galaxy, they have chosen the Android system (the stable version) and built their player over it...the resemblance is there between Sony Walkman and the DX100. as both use Android, but Sony uses the latest Version, with almost a bug free player (I said almost) while the DX100's android is obsolete (Google don't support it anymore). To see a player with this price tag and capabilities , but with a player with so silly and un-explainable dictation errors, is "REALLY ANNOYING".
 
Companies have to stop selling us prototypes.

i keep falling for this S*** too . Anyone recall a tablet by Notion ink . The Adam ? i gave up ,hardly touch it anymore

Hi Lee, what amp did you use for your LX to compare? is this comparing against the line out of dx100? just curious about dx100 implementation of sabreDAC - maybe jitter/clock? want to rule out the amp section

Move screen to the right and go into settings then to the bottom of the list, which is "about this device". You will find it there. Build number will be what tells you. I have 1.1.7.

I believe ibasso is just working with and modifying what is available (at the time of development).  Since there is no Android OS that supports 24/192 ibasso had to modify an existing OS.  IMHO they did an adequate job and their only fault was trying to do too much (other apps) instead of perfecting just the music player.

 

If Sony or another mainstream company thought that sound quality over convenience was profitable they would do it but we (portable reference DAP lovers) are a small niche market so we are stuck w/ companies that have to do their best with very little capital.
