I'm on 1.1.7 and the file data for the music is correct, but seems consistently backwards - a real frustration for concept / story albums.

Any solutions?

Anyone?

This is really starting to bug me - all my tags are correct but the albums are playing in reverse order and I cna't see any settings to change it.

My son just got an Android enabled Samsung Galaxy 4.0 Player for his birthday and while the sound is average, I must say that the navigation is extremely snappy and responsive.  Scrolling through lists, typing in search entries, starting and skipping tracks is much smoother than the DX100 experience.  The album art is also much better presented during track playback.  My bar of expectation has been raised, I hope future firmwares can approach this level of performance.

Th Samsung's screen is also lightyears beyond ibasso's, but that is of secondary importance to me.  The good news is that the DX100 is putting out sound well beyond the quality of what the Samsung is capable of....

I've changed ther D-filter and it sounds better.
The EQ is showing OPEN, which I assume means its turned OFF as the presets are not available until I change it to CLOSE.

I guess I was just expecting an obvious WOW!!! when I fired up the DX100 and I haven't had it yet. The impressions from other people seem to imply its like night and day differences to their usual DAPs. Maybe as it burns in, the sound will become more special?
I'm going to use it as my main DAP for a while and then swap back the J3 and see how I feel when I hear the J3 again for the first time in ages.
BTW I am using JH13 and the gain is set to Mid

EQ is OFF when "Open" is showing on the EQ menu. Tap "Open" to enable EQ. You will then also see "Reset" showing active in menu.

D-Filter: Enabling "Slow Rolloff" = normal treble
Enabling "Fast Rolloff" = slightly less prominent treble

There are bound to be different discussions going on at the same time and to wait until one is finally done, which it may never be, would be unfair to someone who has a different question with the resulting discussion that may ensue related to that question. As long as a Quote is used, it should be fairly clear as to what is being addressed.

Yeah, they should totally invent something like a "quote" button to embed a post in your post so people could see what you are replying to!

Thanks for being condescending. Honestly, I was just trying to help with a great thread that's already a bit unmanageable.

Oh, and look- I even used a "quote" button!

I know it is long thread and there are bits of information everywhere but such is the nature of the beast. I do try to help with some links on the first page, which I update but obviously, many things will not be linked to as it would mean linking to the entire thread. :^) And so it goes. Hopefully search will work and if that fails, just ask a question as I don't always find that search nets what I am looking for even if someone else may be able to use search and find it. I guess there are some just more effective at using search.

No WOW effect... i made a A-B Test with D-Filter setting sharp roll-off and recognized no big difference.

There was only one little difference: in combination with Westone W4R the sound of the iphone 4 was more punchy and forwarding.

IMHO the big advantage of using DX100 is in combination with high impedance cans.

I never use these sort of equipment - so in the meantime i sold my DX100

I think to buy good IEM customs is certainly a bigger step forward to improve the sound quality.

On the other hand device issues like getting hot, bad stand-bye time, no possibility to load via USB are negative arguments due minimal sound improvements - i think this device might be a lot  overrated...

Best Regards

@Trebor1966 - I'm glad I'm not the only one that wasnt instantly blown away by it. I am going to stick with the DX100 as my only DAP for at least the 300hrs stated and see what happens to the sound.

It will also be very interesting to compare against the J3\S9 after the 300hrs

Does anyone know where to get replacement screens for our DX100. It's a rather odd size and I'm not finding any that fit. Thanks

Do you mean a screen protector or the actual glass?

I have read that some have cut protectors to fit.

you can buy a huge scree protector from ipad or laptop and you can remove the stock screen protector to measure the size of it and cut the ipad/laptop screen protector using ruler, cutter, or x-acto knife.

i "think" the iphone screen protector fits but it has holes...

also.. my dx100 has dust inside the screen (not the protector) lol... it doesnt bug me though

I find that files ripped directly to .wav always sound better than files ripped to .flac. I notice most differences to be in the stability of the sound-stage and imaging accuracy, with the .wav files consistently sounding more precise. It is my guess that compression has more effect on these audio nuances that it has on tonal accuracy. To my ears, .wav files ripped directly from my CD's sound better than the HiRez files that I have purchased online.
Unfortunately, none of the HiRez offerings seem to be available as .wav and must be ripped directly from CD's.
I now am only using .wav files on all of my players.

Interesting. I agree with you on the sound staging and imaging being better at least that is what I've noticed. But I've been using cPlay and I notice more detail throughout when compared to the other players. What I was under the impression is that the other programs do the conversion to WAV on the fly and don't fully expand the file and store it in cache before music playback which is introducing the artifacts. Have you tried cPlay before?

One more question. So you think a file directly ripped from the CD to WAV will be better than a FLAC file expanded back to WAV if they were the same file?

what about CDs converted to .wav then converted to mp3?
