HDtracks is just a distributor, so what they say is true, but it's a bit of a white lie.  They take what they are given at face value and do a poor job of vetting those submissions.

The right question would be - do they ever release upsampled works?  If their answer is no then they are certainly lying because these is much evidence to the contrary.  There is also evidence out there that they go back to the source and get the corrected works and rerelease when they've been called out on this activity.  They've also made claims that they would do a better job at this but continue to 'eff up.  I haven't bought anything from them in 6 mos so I'm not sure if they've finally made good on this

Sorry , what i meant was , from reading here , i surmised hdtracks were not sanctioned

by the record companies , i quote "Yet again, the record companies are back to their same old greedy tricks of ripping-off the honest record-buying public and encouraging piracy as a consequence. They never learn!" Or perhaps im reading it all wrong , and the prices being charged by hdtracks is the record companies doing . ? i understood it as the record companies bad business model leads to others doing this

un sanctioned .

i also would like to know how hdtracks gets these old vinyl records to digital 24/192 ? It cant be ,or can it be

ripping straight from the vinyl with hi end equipment ?

Cheers

They would be going, hopefully from the master tapes. The problem that may be encountered is that the master tapes don't have anywhere near the detail and information that 24/192 can present, so you are paying for something that isn't there, even though the tapes are worked to 24/192. I would bet some aren't any better than 16/44 and some worse.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I've just uploaded the DX100 with the latest firmware update and now i can't seem to play the majority of my high res AIF files, especially those files which are large.

I see the song in the directory, the title and the amount of space it occupies but the playback time of each track reads '00:00' and cannot be played.

Would greatly appreciate any advise on how to remedy this problem.

I had only heard from others that HD tracks was selling up sampled files but my biggest complaint is that this is the only thing I can get from them.

This title is not yet available for download from HDtracks in your territory due to current contract restrictions. We are working hard to soon be able to offer this title and many others in pristine high resolution quality. Please continue to check back for further updates. We apologize for any inconvenience. We look forward to having your business.

Once they fix this problem for me and all the other non-Americans out there then they can start making sure everything they sell is legit.

You need to give the DX more time to deal with the files on the first boot up after loading more files, especially hi rez.

I don't know then. Maybe reload the firmware?

Whoa, hold on, I've been away for a while and revisiting this thread, I see I'm being quoted in a context I never intended. My remarks relate to the price labels are charging for hi-rez albums. Morally, the purchase price is for the material, not for the size of the file. That's why I object to the profiteering. The only premium should be a negligible premium to cover increased bandwidth.

The DX100 is wonderful for letting the character of the headphones shine through. The T1 have great sound stage, the LCDs sound crystal clear - eerily so.
After a quick AB I'm wondering about the fate of my Lyr now.....
I am absolutely loving this player.

Was this a 24 bit of that recording ? i had no idea it was in 24 bit if so ? Where can i purchase if it is ?

I have been using the DX100 more and more recently driving Cans and IEMs. I am getting some surprisingly good results and some not so good but still a very pleasant listening experience.

Right off the bat, for me, the LCD-2 and HE500 is not too great out of the DX100. It sounds pleasant enough but you can sense the sheer lack of power, grip and control compared to using other amps! Surprisingly, the best amp to my ears for the LCD-2 is the Triad L3 sourced by the Baldelius usb DAC. The HE500 best driven by the Violectric V200 and sourced by the same DAC, signal from the JRiver media player via ASIO.

Back to the DX100, the Headphone that I have really been enjoying driven by the DX100 is the Shure SRH 1840. It really is a fantastic combination and betters, using the HD650. Bear in mind I am listening with the EQ. switched on and flat. The 1840 just seems to hit the sweet spot with the DX100, dynamically, soundstaging and tonality wise.

With IEMs, I do favour the W4 with a silver/gold cable on the DX100. Again everything just sounds so correct. Great extension on both freq. extremes with a really full and lush mid. Spacial cues are well portrayed. Tonality, again is just about right and one can listen for hours. I received my 20 BA driver IEMs yesterday and will be listening extensively in the coming weeks initial impressions have been very favourable.

Will have an interesting weekend, when I add the Violectric V800 DAC. I will be using the DX100 as transport to the V800 and will make comparisons:-

JRiver > ASIO > Bladelius usb DAC > Triad L3/LLP > LCD-2    Vs    DX100 > coax > V800 > V200 > HE500. The two rigs are very similar in price so from that perspective it will be interesting to see how the two compare.

Overall, I have to say I am very pleased with the DX100 and the many ways it can be utilized. As a DAP, source and transport. A extremely good buy!
