I am looking on the go  with iem like the Sony ex 1000 and maybe some cans like the Custom One Pro/M100. The HD 650 , maybe LCD 2 later at home

Since this is a secondhand item I am expecting the battery to be around 6 hour, but from what I tried the battery seems to drop like rock , is the battery drains relatively stable ?

I think Ibasso charges $20 for a new battery and $6 for a spare charger to keep at your desk ;)

Oh ? Is the battery user replaceable , or do i have to send it to ibasso to get my battery replaced, whsts the battery life when it was new ?

Ibasso was kind enough to create a guide to cracking open the DX100:

Hi All,

I am considering making the jump from AK100 to DX100.

I am curious as to one thing.

Everything I have read seems like this is a pretty decent player with some terrific detail retrieval and very powrerful amp section.

So I am not concerned in this regard.

What I am curious about is whether Google Play Music can be installed?

In other words, am I able to (when on wifi) stream via google play music :)

That is all.

Not a deal breaker, but a huge convenience.

Hey Scott,

Well, first I wouldn't say it's a "pretty decent player"...it's literally the standard by which all DAP's are measured. The UI is quirky, the units are generally tempermental, but the SQ that comes out of this DAP is still unparalleled except by...perhaps...a Tera Player. You can get a similar sound signature by purchasing a DX50 and amping it with a Tralucent T1. I have the DX100, RWAK100 and DX50/TI Combo. I put them through the rotations and am continuously amazed at how close the DX50 Combo sounds to the DX100. The DX50 also has a better UI.

However, it still is not the DX100, the sound out of it is by far the best I've personally heard with all manner of cans...from ultra expensive to budget minded.

I've had Google Play Music installed and it doesn't work very well...at least not on my unit.

Hope that helps...

Hi there,

I certainly didnt want to offend in saying "Pretty decent", apologies if I did.  People tend to be either team AK100/120 or team DX100.

I would consider the DX50/T1 combo however my aim is to get back to one unit for my commute.

The T1 is a fantastic amp though, I have used it with my AK100 and it really punches above its price to my ears.

When you say temperamental, is this to the point of frustration or the occasional lock up etc due to android? (I am an android fan btw).

When you say Google Play Music didn't work well for you, is there any chance you could elaborate?

Thanks.

Hey bro,

No offense taken at all! Sorry to sound that way. I know...so many are in the individual camps that they refuse to see the pro's of the other product. LOL I guess it's human nature.

I also wanted to go down to one unit...the problem with using the DX100 as that one unit is the battery life. It simply doesn't last all day. You'll get 5-7 hours TOPS out of it...

Is the thing fantastic sounding without an external amp...without a doubt. Just about everyone knows about the horror story of the DX100's UI. Well not horror story per se'..but frustrating none the less. There are tricks one has to learn to get around certain issues with the DX100. By this I mean stopping services and rebooting to get the unit to update it's song list, etc...

The single smallest package combo I've used for commuting back and forth to work has actually been the RWAK100/T1 combo. It sounds utterly fantastic and has a smaller pocket footprint than the DX50 combo.

Then we come to price...I mean...the $800+ new DX100 or used in the $600 range....vs the RWAK $750 new to $600 used...vs DX50 at $250 + T1 used at $200...the DX50 combo wins...Space being the issue...for one unit..the only two answers I can see are either DX100 or the "non-ui" Tera Player.

Does the battery life affect your decision?

Battery life isn't a huge concern.
I am at most 3 hours without a power point.
I will be using this on the commute to and from work. And while at work however can plug in at work so that's not a huge issue.

My current portable is ak100+pb2+Mr speakers alpha dog.

Never heard the AK120, but the combo is pretty stellar on the DX100.  I use it as the to go rig with the LCD-2 and the HE-500 when I travel.  I would personally prefer the DX100 since it has a true line out.

I don't know why iRiver has not gone with a line out. Just seems senseless in this day and age. The line out of the DX50 or DX100 is excellent.

If there is neither the original packaging nor the warranty card, how does one find the DX100's serial number to check if it is still under warranty? Thanks.

Probably best to drop iBasso an email and ask them.

Would it give a better audio quality experience using DX100 / O2 combo rather than feeding it directly to Senn HD650?
