Exactly.

I love mine, the only thing that MIGHT make me switch would be the DX50, depending on how that turns out.  The sound of the DX100 is amazing.

at last!

Thanks for saying what I have been thinking of posting but, having been thought of as snobby and rude, I left it.

Hope the advice is followed.

Just for reference I have found Head Fi to be helpful and informative as long as you maintain some self-awareness when positing, especially when frustrated.

Actually, while you are all correct, I sympathise with Allnight, although I think he's become a bit sensitive because of his frustration. Like him, I would love the Wifi to work reliably but only to stream some Pandora or Rhapsody when I get bored with my 10,000 or so songs and concerts.

Fortunately I have other devices to turn to, but if spending $900 on your pride and joy is taking a deep breath, and you did so without being forearmed with all the issues posted thoughout this thread, you can understand his frustration.

Allnight, don't take things so personally. No one means to insult anyone but sometimes repeating complaints will draw fire when the facts have been spelled out. But your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's so long as one remembers that some on here have more knowledge than others and should be heeded when appropriate. I for one have little so appreciate the views and advice of those experts.

+1

I don't feel any of us are trying to insult one another.  We're all just trying to help out here by setting the scene for the expectations of others.  But that's a difficult task when someone's not willing to accept the facts and limitations of this player and keep testing things we all knew were flakey.

Allnight buddy, it should be better for a product this price, but it isn't and that's just how it is in this iteration.  Let's just look forward to the next DX50 and DX200 and hope they listen and fix things afterwards.  If not, then vote with your wallet and choose a better player (if there is one)  :) Peace

Wish they have the AK120's dual sdcard slot. Mine just does not have enough speace. I can barely fit 3000 songs in it.

The thing I do not get is why they try to use micro sdcard in a such big device??? I am pretty sure I can easily find cheap 128G SDXC card for it. Hope the new DX50 fix it~~~~~

+ 1, if there's a chance to have dual normal sd slot, that would be nice. but In the meantime, they should fix the media scanning to make swapping sdcards a breeze. I tried the x3, it instantly read my microsd including hi res files - no album art though but that's fine with me wink.gif

I got my exchanged unit back from China without my warranty card. The person at Customer Service emails me and says I need to give them another $5 USD to get my warranty card mailed to me...and it will take a MONTH to get here to NYC.

I responded back that I think that is ridiculous! YOU didn't see the warranty card in the box...the same small box that had the big 8.5" x 11" piece of paper with my return address written on it? The same piece of paper that had the warranty card TAPED to it?? And now they want me to send them another 5 bucks...after sending this unit back to China twice...at $40 a pop!

I'm glad that I got a brand new unit but seriously...it may be going on sale here real soon.

While I can understand your frustration, to sell the unit due to a 5 dollar dispute. . . well seems like you will be getting rid of a great sounding dap because of 5 dollars and some aggregation. But, we all have our own comfort zone.

Well if either of you do sell it you may want to pick up a jellybean smartphone that is capable of usb otg audio. For less than the price of the ibasso if you if you pick one up on contract you will have a superior device functionally and would be able to purchase a supported dac/amp that should rival or in some cases possibly even better the sq from the ibasso (note: I have never heard the ibasso).

Allnight I certainly see where you are coming from and it can be very frustrating. If you are within 30 days simply return it as I believe that is ibasso's policy.

If you have never heard the iBasso and obviously compared what you are referring to, what is the point of your statement?

The point is I wanted to let some of the disappointed dx100 owners know that there are other device combinations out there that can possibly meet or exceed the sq of the dx100. I also realized that I would need to put a flame suit on.
I will stand behind my statement as functionally the galaxy s4 or comparable will be functionally superior, receive android updates, and have custom roms built for it. Every product has a fanatical following and ibasso is no different.

Based on what I have read about it as I was considering purchasing one the amp is very good and would stand up well against top of the line portable amps. The dac seems like overkill, please correct me if I am wrong but was made for multi channel use specifically.

With usb otg audio you will receive a bit perfect digital signal to a compatible dac/amp of which there are many supported, there is a thread dedicated to this.

You aren't getting flamed, why even state that? I questioned how you could say something is better sounding without comparing or even hearing the device.

Well if both of my posts are re read you will see that I never claimed that it does indeed sound better. I said should rival or even in some cases possibly better the sq.

At some point with higher end portable amps it will become a personal sound preference over the amps technical ability.

You also have to factor in the implementation, the quality of the amp and DAC, the power source. As well as timing issues which degrade the sound (I forgot the exact term used). Personally I did not even like using the DX100 as a transport and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the timing issues.

It's not just the $5 bucks...it's a lot more than that. It's the PITA factor...while I love the sound signature...

I just went down to 1.3.7 to see how that sounds...

I have the RWAK100 which sounds amazing also...but not "quite" as good as the iBasso. The RWAK is absolutely more portable and more NYC Subway friendly.

The DX100 isn't something I'm comfortable using on the subways...

I did hear that the Galaxy S4 sounds amazing though...
