So did you just charge the DX100 via USB? Standard USB won't charge the DX100, you need to use the charger that comes with the DX100 to charge it

+1

And one of the reasons I also bought a Sony Z. DX100 for playing my music files and the Z for Android apps, streaming and music on the go.

So I plug them in, mash play, and holy ****!   The DX100 not only drives them, but drives them with authority!  There is plenty of dynamic headroom, the DX100 sounds effortless as it's pumping juice into these cans!  These things are sounding absolutely tremendous plugged into this thing!

Do you also have a desktop set up to compare how the LCD2 sound with the DX100?

Yes, you have to use their contact form to order.

I just posted my review of the new iCAN amp on here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/654405/ican-amp-review-a-new-amp-that-gives-you-more-more-bass-more-soundstage-and-more-detail#post_9235471

I used the DX100 as the source for most of my listening, and the iCAN pairs up well with the DX100, and it has a couple of unique features, a bass boost and a soundstage boost,  that take the sound to a whole new level. If you have ever wanted more bass or more soundstage from your headphones, this little desktop amp can provide some nice low end, detail and spaciousness.

Well, I wouldn't call it a "desktop" setup, I have the big rig.  Which right now includes a Schiit Lyr.  So, yeah, I was able to compare.  The Lyr bested the DX100, but I was nevertheless impressed by how good they sounded through the DX100.

Have you tried the Beyer's with DX100? :)

I have the same setup and agree on both counts, if I'm working at my desk, I'll use the Lyr, but for moving round the hous, straight out of the DX-100 is fine...

Oh yeah.  Actually, they were more difficult to drive.  They sounded only OK, the DX100 didn't have quite enough ooomph to really make them shine.

Not sure which Beyers you were referring to, but I have the Tesla T1s and I agree completely with you.  Unamped, straight out of the DX100 they could get loud enough, but were missing the fullness, soundstage, and to use your work, ooomph.  I now always keep a Ray Samuels SR-71A strapped to my DX100.  I find that even with my Heir 4.Ais, they sound better through the amp than straight from the DX100.  I'm not complaining about how they sound through the DX - pretty much anything I've tried sounds good through the DX100.  They just sound better, much better amped.

I have a set of Heir 5.0s on order and am eagerly awaiting being able to compare them side by side with the 4.Ais and the Beyer T1s.

I use also a portaphile 627 as an external amp to the dx100 smily_headphones1.gif I use it to drive a Beyer T1 and my modded t50rp, but I still like the internal amp of the dx100 for the Prat factor. wink.gif

Welcome and the seasoned DX100 owners will say, "jump back to Page 1 and read the FAQ" :D. Hehe!! Seriously though dude, I think a comparison between your new DX100 (after it's been bedded in) with your HDP-R10 will be greatly appreciated.
