I did read somewhere that it's better to use the "Restore" button rather than "Upgrade" as this completely erases all data before flashing ... any thoughts on that?

Hmm...nope, I've always used the upgrade. I've actually wanted it to wipe everything out...clean slate. What I found is that this would put that version as the baseline (i.e. whenever a "factory" reset is done, it will fall onto that firmware I upgraded to). Never tried restore.

I need a case.  I found several references to a silicone case by Hibino, but I can't find any link to any for sale.

Also, there are some photos by scootermafia of a very nice carrying case on the first page of this thread, but no mention of the manufacturer or model number, or a link to where one might purchase it.

Does anyone have any info?  TIA!

You'll have to order the silicone case from amazon.jp. Then have it forwarded to a mailing service like Tenso.com. So it's a bit pricy. While you are at it I recommend you grab the hibino screen protectors as well. I recommend 2 packages of the screen protectors. :)

I used 'upgrade' too.... though since I only now just figured out I could change from Chinese to English I always just thought of it as "circled button2".

It seems to have done the DX a world of good - fixed the issue I was having but also made it feel very snappy and responsive. I will likely use the tool to do all future firmware upgrades.

I do not know what the lc2 sound like. But the Miracles pair great with the DX100.

I signed up for an address with Tenso.com, like you recommended.

It's just that they provided me an address that was 99% in Kanji characters, and trying to figure out exactly what to put where in the Amazon.jp address form was, lets say interesting...

I guess I really should learn Japanese, and we should probably all learn at least a little Mandarin.  It's all a global village now, isn't it?  beerchug.gif

Ah I gotcha now. I actually signed up for an account with Tenso and registered it with Amazon. I was gonna order the W3000 ANVS (before I ordered them from another source in Singapore) but chickened out as I didn't want to find out I send them to the wrong address, not at $1,300 at least :P lol.

Well it's still entirely possible that I botched the entire thing.  But the total order came to $36 USD, so I figured it was worth the risk.

Thanks for confirming my already painful semi-conclusion about 8A....

Yep, the 8.A is what you want.

Sorry about your wallet, but I can promise you that they're worth it.

Damn, thanks for mentioning it! For the rest of you guys - press the bottom left button and enjoy the English interface!

I'll try a "Restore" now, to see if it could bring my wifi back to life. If not, my DX might be going to China after CNY.
