Yeah 6A on the left, and 8A on the right, highly recommended by Sorennormal_smile%20.gif

Well I'm eager to hear what you think as Heir is also in my radar. I opted for some 1plus2 recently, highly recommended by a friend ;)  But in terms of CIEM the Heir Audio 8.A. could be next...

I have been listening to the DX100 for a few weeks and I must admit its sound is addictive. One thing I noticed is that in spite I am using CIEMs I prefer the gain setting on High. Does anybody know how the gain is actually changed? Is it changing the amount of negative feedback?

I'm seriously looking at getting the DX100, but have a couple of questions chaps. Currently i'm using iPod Touch + Fiio E17, which gives me pretty decent sound with my Amperiors and is even good enough to drive my HD800's when away on trips. What's attracting me to the iBasso is an all in one unit doing away with the need for two separate units. Does it have enough amp power to meet my needs?

I think all those who got this product at that pre-order price were really lucky. It has never dropped down to that price ever since!

However to get the crossfeed effect I had to run the second headphones at nearly full volume (around 220-230 on high gain) which was causing some distortion. I knew that it would likely damage the headphones but did not care since I only paid $15 and wanted to see if there was anything to the experiment. However, I did not realize that it would also damage the amp in my new (to me) DX100. Now when I play my HD650s through the headphone out on my DX100 I get some very noticeable distortion at moderately high volume.

So I am afriad I know the answer, but for those who know more (obviously much more), is it true that I probably damaged the amp in the DX100 by running it at levels that were causing distortion in the cheap headphones I had plugged in? I probably ran it this way for well over two hours. So basically I am asking if playing at levels that are clipping and distorting will damage an amp as well as the speakers or headphones hooked up to that amp?

Fortunately, it has not affected the line out signal, so I may just be using the DX100 to feed another amp for the rest of my life frown.gif.  And there goes it's resale value unless I send it in for repairs. Is iBasso easy to work with for repairs?

Live and never learn is my motto.rolleyes.gif

Great news. The problem all along was with the aftermarket cable I was using with my HD650s. Fortunately, I just got a set of Beyer T1s and when I hooked up these 600 ohm headphones to the DX100 there was no distortion. So I went back to the HD650 and there was the distortion again. I pulled out my stock cable and hooked it up.....no distortion. There must be a loose connection in the new cable. Funny how it happened right after my experiment with using two headphones, and I was sure it was due to that. but it was just a coincidence that the connection in the new cable came loose right after that.

Listening with the DX100, fi.Q with HA5002 buffters (the best) and OPA627 (like the OPA637 even better) and the ESW10, Doors remastered from HDtracks. Excellent sound!

While I don't have Hd800s I'm sure they'll work fine from the DX100. Plenty of folks here running 600ohm headphones off theirs by all accounts.

I've put my Alpen into the drawer since getting the DX100 and rarely listen to music off my iPhone now.

Sounds good and looking to install & run Spotify.

I've used mine with my hd800 and it's surprisingly good. I wouldn't use it in preference to my desktop amps but it's certainly not bad for occasional use. It does demand high gain and plenty of volume to really drive them adequately though, which presumably hits battery life.

Tried it on my Android devices and it made no noticeable difference.

I also tried it on the DX100 - same

If you're looking to stream spotify I'd make sure you know the limitations of the dx100's wifi.

I won't stream, download to the device and use, hoping that it works okay...

I'm kind of late to join this thread. I read  so far DX100 is the best DAP available on the market. It is better than iRiver Ak100.

May I know does this DX100 spport the latest Android Jelly Bean?

By the way, has Ibasso improved the problems in the recent batch of DX100 based on the users' feedback?

1) Yes than the AK100, but the gap narrows with the RWAK100

2) Nope, can't do Jelly Bean

3) For the "almost 1 year life" of my DX100, iBasso is still continually improving the particularities of the DX100 with the most significant improvements going from sub 1.0.x -> 1.1.7, then to 1.2.7 but in between there were hiccups (e.g. including the latest 1.3.5). Some people have rolled back to 1.2.7, I've stayed on 1.3.5 patiently waiting for the next release since the bugs are obvious with iBasso addressing them really soon

P.S. at least from 1.1.0, SQ has improved progressively. the in-between "non-so stable" releases such as 1.1.6 or 1.2.3 had more to do with functionality issues rather than "bad SQ" issues.

At least that's my perception of the DX100 for the past 11 months.
