I like BOSE signature, they are overpriced yes but not as bad as Beats, with clever EQ-ing they can sound brilliant

What do you mean by signature?

Buying Bose and paying $150 for the AE phones is like paying $140 for ipod nano instead of paying $50 for Sansa Clip.

You can buy better sounding phones for 1/3 of the price with better quality.

The only thing they will lack will be the "coolness and in" factor that the overpriced items have due to marketing geniuses.

I think it's a shame that companies like Bose and Beats can sell more products because of advertisement and not based on the quality/price ratio of their products. Monster still sells $30 6ft hdmi cables because they claim they are superior. Even a horrible cable can carry a digital signal 6 feet and buying such a pricey cable is pointless yet lots of people do it. I would rather see the companies that bring us truly special products or give us good equipment for really good prices see more money go their way rather than the company that advertises the most.

Too many people are terrible shoppers.

I need to admit that they have a really good marketing department.

It impresses me again and again.

This ....

There not as bad as people make them out to be, just overpriced.

The OC15s do what they advertise.  As for Customer Service, It's here in the US and you get treated like a customer.

Your OC15s break after 5 years of useage, even if your fault, send them back only to get the latest headphone @ $80.

Hey it's better then nothing .. :)

Hmm, I don't give much credibility to the New York Times when they talk about headphones but, recently, they did a review on noise-canceling headphones. Of course, Bose was reviewed along with several other headphones such as Sennheiser (I can't remember all of them). To the reviewers surprise, the Bose came out on top, beating everyone else. I have to say, his article was persuasive. If I wanted to buy noise-canceling headphones, I would buy the Bose. Alas, I do not want noise-canceling headphones. I want the JH-16 Pro.

I have the IE2 and think for the price they're one of the best I've used for jogging.  They even forced my Portapros to retire.  They're extremely comfortable, and allow me to hear every outside noise that's going on, which is necessary to, well, not be hit by a car.

I'm not really focused on musical quality when I'm jogging (and I tend to listen to a lot of podcasts..), so they perform well out there, but when I bring them home and switch to even my more comparably priced Etymotic HF3 - there's a huge difference!!!!

I love string quartets, but on the Bose pair the timbre of the instruments is off, and the low end sounds muddy and tends to bury melodic lines that sound crystal clear on the Etys (more so on my ER4s).  There's a veil on the Bose that isn't there on the Ety, and the Ety's have a bite and depth to the instruments that the Bose lacks.  Not to mention detail retrieval...there's just no comparison.

Last I saw the Etys were on clearance at BB for $79, while the IE2 were $99.  You could find the Etys for about $120 pretty easily online, and the Bose with inline mic + control is generally about $129..so their street price is pretty comparable.

However, the difference in quality and ability between them is night and day.

I love the IE2s for filling my jogging niche, but as far as recommending them to someone who's looking for a pair for focused listening - absolutely not.

Actually the anti-Bose sentiment goes all the way back 40 or 50 years ago when they sued a high-fi magazine (Stereo Review?) for giving their top line speakers a  bad  review. That lawsuit was a BIG no-no in the hi-fi community! You don't sue someone for not liking your speakers! Bose was arrogant, unapologetic and basically banished from hi-end circles. Funny how time didn't fade the anger among the high end most likely because  there are still plenty of us older guys sneering when we hear the name Bose.

I'm sure we've all noticed that they do not advertise in any Audio magazines.

Kinda makes you wonder...........

Can you imagine Toyota NOT advertising in Car and Driver?

I agree that monster's marketing is great. As for "selling without delivering", I think it depends on the consumers' music preference. For mainstream consumers that like pop and hip-hop, I guess they can say that monster's products has met their expectation.

If the DT1350 drivers and damping were sold under a less liked or budget oriented brand for $30, you can bet on me being all over them. Then again, I do own a pair of Beats :Þ

I personally can't / haven't heard any type of music which would sound acceptable on those.

But that is just me.
