Got £800 to spend on closed back headphones and amp ? Denon? Beyer?

Hi, looking for the best way to spend this unexpected money.

I use HD600s at home with my X-Cans but want something of good qualitythat is closed- flat EQ or nearer to a Grado than a HD600 in terms of tone, no booming bass, no plummy upper midrange. I want air and a good wholesome midrange.

These will only be for listening music at work via my Nokia N8 or out of a Win7 Laptop.

They will also be used at home, when the missus is watching TV.

So I have narrowed it down to the Denon AdH-2000 or Beyer TP50

should I get a desktop amp too?

any other suggestions?

thanks

I don't understand very well (maybe my bad english, lol). You want a flat frequency and in the same time you speak about Grado, flat and Grado its completely opposed imo. With your HD600 you had already an excellent neutral headphone.

I don't think the D2000 fit your needs if you want a flat eq, no booming bass and a good midrange. Its an excellent headphone but has lot of bass, sometimes boomy and has recessed mids.

I don't know the T50, but from reviews, the best will be, maybe, the T70 if you want a Beyer headphone. When i had my T1 i loved them and should fit completely your needs imo, but its effectivey not the same budget, T1+amp...

With that cash I would have gone with the D7000's, an E9 amp and a decent DAC. D7000's are the flattest of the bunch by quite a bit. The Denons are probably the most open-headphone like of the closed headphones (good soundstage, airy), but they don't have a huge midrange bump like Grados.
