what to choose? Shure SRH840 or Shure SRH440

Hello to all i am new user. :)

I need headphones for Music (Flac and Ape) 

i want to buy Asus Xonar Essence STX

I do not know how to take the headphones? Shure SRH840 or Shure SRH440?? worth paying more fo rShure SRH840?

Yes, the SRH840 is better and can be much better with a an amp like the stx for example.

I have a pair of the 440's.  I use them for portable use.  They work very well with a fiio 11 and a line out with my Ipod.  I think they are very under rated.  As for is it worth it to go with the 880s.   Thats one of those things where opinions will differ, and I don't think there is a right answer.

Of course all depends of your tastes, but technically speaking and with a good amp, the SRH840 is much better than the srh440, but its true, without an amp, the srh440 can be "relatively' better.

I only listened to SRH440 once in a store, but it sounded like honk city.

Measurements show obvious better bass response for the srh840 (square wave + midbass bump)
