Low detail headphone advice

Thread Starter

Hey guys, I'm very new here, but I was lucky enough to find a very helpful headfier around here who explained me tons of stuff, using his own experience, I just dont want to bother him every time like I did untill now and the topic I want to talk about might interest others too.

So here's the thing, I bought a Panasonic HF600 and a Fischer Audio FA-003, both recommended by him, both sound amazing, but I promised my mom a good headphone and since I couldnt' find anything good for her, she is using the Panasonic. Now the problem, I have Xonar DG soundcard, no AMP or DAC (for the panasonic this is enough, the fischer's could be better with a proper AMP I believe) and my music source is rather sh*ty, most of them are 320kbit MP3 but I do have tons of old music, that are very low like 128kbit-192kbit range...they do sound relative ok with the Panasonic, but with the Fischers they do sound like crap, the more detailed the headphone the worse the low quality music becomes.. thats why I'm in search of a low detailed headphone, that doesnt need any more than a Xonar DG as amp, and most importantly, it has to be comfortable, open or closed, doesnt matter, actually, if I can find a good open and a good closed, I will buy both of them...my main music genre is trance (1998-2008 era)

So if any of you, get what I'm talking about and have experience with low detailed headphones please reply here..

PS. I dont search for actual "cheap" headphone, I just need something that will be good for listening lower quality music and its comfy for all day listening... like the panasonic isn't the best for all day listening, so is the fischer, they make me sweat.

Thanks in advance guys!

The Xonar DG comes with a DAC and a half-way decent headphone amplifier, rated up to 150-Ohms

you want something that is forgiving of poor quality recordings

What you're probably want to get is a headphone slanted towards bass/mid bass with a darker sound(less treble).

What is the price point your looking for?

PX 100 II  are one of the more forgiving pairs I've used.  Very dark and smooth.

Its not about the price, its about making the low quality music sound better. For example a Denon D7000 must sound rubbish with a 128kbit mp3, but a Panasonic HTF600 sounds better, because it doesnt have that much detail, so these headphone should be cheap, but I dont care about its price.
