This may be a dumb thought on my part. Do you happen to have dolby surround or any sort of multi-channel dsp turn on? Your PC151 are closed backed I believe and 555's are open backed. That might explain why they sound distant and muddy if you have any dsp on. Just a thought.

I would agree that muddy has never come to mind concerning how they sound. Strong upper mids with rolled off bass and weird highs yes but never muddy. Hailin may be on to something.

I don't think I have any of those virtual 7.1 or w/e sound things on. for instance from my xonar essence driver I have mine 2 channel, PCM 44.1khz, and none of these checked mark: dolby headphon, 7.1 virtual speaker shifter.(i don't know what any of these means but that's how it is set up)

I don't know what dsp is so I can't tell what if it's on or off.

and open back probably does contribute to my opinion on why this headphone sounds muddy and all because I can hear music clearly playing when I'm not wearing the headphone and just leave it at my desktop. though I think because of this I feel much more comfortable and also more ventilation so I can wear long time without my ears getting hot and sweaty

EDIT-take a grain of salt when I say "muddy" because really it might mean totally different to you guys. I'm just trying to explain what I feel when I used the headphone. though the muddy and distant sound thing got "fixed" by me chanigng my DB things into "U" shape.(from xonar driver it's the ones in section 'Effect' ther's like bunch of lines I can move around and right now mine is shaped "U" and it sounds much more better than the default ones)

Quite the contrary. Maybe you meant "laid  back" (sound seems a bit on the background, instead of being "on your face").  In this case the hd595 might not be for you (despite all the raving reviews, you won't be the first to dislike these headphones).

That is the joy of headphones it may take you 10 pairs and months on end to find that perfect pair. It may happen right away, you just never know. I would agree with everyone else 7Karma they may just not be for you.

I would say give your ears time. They need to break into the new sound. If in a in a week you are not into it I would say return and move on. (If your return policy gives you that time.)
