Watching TV - Sennheiser PX100-ii's vs HD 202's - any preference?

As the title says I am torn between getting either of these two headphones for the primary purpose of watching TV late at night. I've read the usual arguments of open vs closed (sound leakage isn't a problem) as well as this rather useful review over at Headfonia comparing the 202's to the ultra portables:

Money is pretty tight at the moment so I can't afford to buy both and AB them so I am after some practical hands-on advice if possible.

What would the beautiful people of Head-fi suggest? Which of these two would provide the most immersive experience for watching movies, music concerts etc.....

Thanks in advance (from a grateful newbie) bigsmile_face.gif

The PX100II is a much better headphone than the HD202. If you want to spend less, the JVC HAS160 for around $12 is a very nice budget headphone. Another good value is Koss KSC75 for around $15. It has ear clips instead of a headband. Unless you buy a headphone with a very long cord, you will probably need a headphone extension cord. A basic one that is 15 feet or 25 feet is probably under $10.

Thanks for the advice. I've just ordered some of the JVC's as they are the cheapest of the bunch. If I don't like them I will probably go for the PX100-ii's....

Hi Cieran,

I use the TDK WR700 wireless headphones for TV viewing and they're very good. It's liberating having no wires to snag and you can wander about (e.g. making a coffee in the kitchen) and still listen to the TV program. A small module plugs into the TV 3.5mm headphone port and a set of AAA batteries lasts for about a weeks viewing - I use rechargeable batteries to reduce costs and be more environmentally friendly. The headphones retail for about £60 in the UK but can be found cheaper overseas.

Cheers.
