hello there, so i'm a new member to the forum, and i suppose to the quality of music listening as well. At age 26 i'm quite late to discovering music quality lol. I was curious to some guidance.
I currently own a pair of aviators, but i was looking to upgrade from these. I normally listen to them with a change in equalizers but after putting "none" on i could feel the uniquness i guess of the head set you could call it rather than me trying to force the head set to sound the way i want. It seems to sound clearer, but not quite where i want it.
I do like the bass of this head phone and the way i can hear a lot of the uppers, but i'm craving a headphone that can get the mids and uppers better than this head set as the bass for me is more than adequate quality, though if the new headphones has better bass then so be it.
main question: what is a good upgrade from the skullcandy aviators? price range being upwards to 300$. I would prefer someone who owns/owned a pair of skull candy to give their opinion of what felt better, but if you have an "end all" headset you love, tell me that one too. I like the look of the sony 7510 but not so much the akg's when it comes to appearance, as a guid.
Extra info you don't have to read but what i've read through the forums and other sites and more detailed of my quest to find head phones.
I was leaning towards the sony 7520 though the price is a bit steep, so i saw there was the 7510, but the 7510 is comparable to the aviator in price, so i was wondering would the 7510 even be considered an "upgrade"? I do know the pricing might be less just because its less "pop culture-ish", and the same price definitely doesn't equate to equal quality for sure. I did research before i came here of course through these forums and found that these 2 are comparable to the z1000/700 just re packed. Imo i like the flat black unflashyness of the 7500 series esp compared to the flashier aviators.
I also did research and saw the denon 1100 as an option and akg701. in comparable price range.
I like a solid black colored head phones not so much fancyness and i like the dome shaped smooth like the sonys headphones compared to say the akg's which looks robotic i guess? hahaha esp with those 2 wire arches going over your head, i guess i like the solid band too like the 7500 series.
Also i'm looking at the fiio 11 because i've seena lot of good reviews on the avg priced amp. would going any cheaper than this (i think 60$ or so) still be worth while? I like to be cheap but i also don't want to ruin the investment in a good headphone either.
i've read peoples reviews of the 2 sony's and even seen top 20's n other people's top 10's list, but nothing quite answered my direct question of what is a good upgrade to the aviator?
