I'm trying to make sure I get the correct complementary speakers to turn my system into a 7.1 system. I already have a 7.1 AVR and plenty of extra cable so it's just a matter of plugging in two more speakers.

The only issue is that they would probably end up being on the floor and I don't know if that would affect the sound negatively. My current setup is three speakers directly behind my computer monitor and two speakers above and behind that same monitor. I don't exactly have a way to prop up two new speakers behind me as all I have behind me is my bed. I'm certainly not getting the tower speakers as those are far too expensive. I suppose I could always put the speakers on top of small stools.
