I thought people might appreciate this picture --- the FAD crew welcoming their little sister to family! (reposted, courtesy of a local friend)
its the 400th page o.O wow its only been 6 months........
That picture makes me feel warmer on the inside than it reasonably should.
Needs moar older FAD though: 1350 M1 and M2, 1601 SB, SS, SC, etc.

B&W P5:
I really like these. The build materials are nice, and the modularity of the earpads is really nice; it's a feature I'd like to see implemented in other headphones. The actual construction of these could use a little work, though. I find the adjustment sliders a bit awkward and the pivot mechanism needs a bit of resistance as the earpads have a tendency to swing wildly about. The cabling that feeds through the headband into the earcups is also a bit poorly implemented: the right side of my set is much more taut than the left, making adjustment of the pads a bit uneven and awkward. It just doesn't feel quite right on my head. Also the cable fabric frays slightly in the adjustment process. In terms of sound, they have a definitely warmth and are far from accurate. Details take a back seat to euphony. And you know what? That's fine. The P5 makes it work, and it does so providing a relaxing blanket of sound. Apparently there are two versions of these, with a newer model featuring more exactly molded foam inside the cup assembly. Supposedly the older model had foam that blocked the drivers somewhat, causing a muffled sound? Inspecting my particular P5, the foam seems to indicate that these are the newer iteration. The sound is not muffled to my ears, though overall it is less detailed than some of its similarly priced competitors. I find these enjoyable given the right mood and source material.
That's interesting. I had a pair of P5's and I found them to sound quite congested. Loved the build but the sound really wasn't for me. I'm looking forward to the P3's though.
Or, a possible hazing?
Did you mod them? Or did you have the newer, unobtrusive foam? They don't sound particularly congested, but in terms of clarity they definitely sound blanketed.
Would anyone of you be interested in being a part of a smaller project? I'm writing a guide, concerning headphones, but not about them. If you'd be interested, just PM me. :)
I bought the P5's when they first came out and I also thought they weren't for me. I never knew there were two versions of them and I'm shocked MF likes them. General finding were the same as everyone else on here comfortable fit etc but the sound was colored and congested with woefully little detail. Something else I noticed, for me it seemed like instrument positioning sounded off and sound stage was woefully inadequate.
There are some threads about modding the P5s. Basically the newer iterations do the same thing the mods accomplished.
Anyone got experience with the Audio Technica TAD500? Seems like a pretty flat frequency response with a slight bass roll off. At least if I've understood this page correctly: http://www.geocities.jp/ryumatsuba/ath-tad500.html
Could it be a good investment you think?
Nah I sold them before I became aware of the difference made in production. I am pretty sure I had an older pair.
You tease! You're going to need to provide a little more context then that!

I always thought the TAD series was introduced because they realised the popularity of the AD series among gamers and wanted to make something even cheaper for the multimedia market.

Well, I'd like to keep the whole thing a little secret from the public for the time being. It's really nothing big, but if things go right, it could become something useful. :) I'll send you a PM about it ..
I honestly don't know anything about the TAD series except for what's been written on their website. It seems to be that it is a cheaper alternative to the AD-series, although from my understanding, they are more neutral/flat and perhaps a pretty good headphone - particularly for the price. I guess it was a longshot to ask you guys, but some of you guys wn Audio Technica headphones, so I figured I might as well ask if someone has had the opportunity to listen to those particular ones.

Next time I'm in the city I'll bug the guys at the AT store about it. XD
I think they would be pretty decent, but I was no fan of the AD700.
Thanks buddy ;D
I haven't even heard the AD700. Thing is that all my cans are closed, and pretty bassy. I'd like to broaden the view a little with some open, "not-so-bassy" ones. In a way they seemed to me as a good candidate because of the price, and I've had a good experience with AT before (yep, I actually liked the M50, LOL). Of course, there are others to contemplate as well - but these looked pretty comfy and well, it's a good price.
