I was exposed to the audiophilia bug while still in HS, back in the mid-70s. The father of a friend of mine was seriously into high-end audio. His system at the time consisted of Mark Levinson preamp and crossover, with huge tri-amped DIY speakers powered by Bryston amps and a Technics direct-drive TT. He was always cool about us listening to our music on the system. So, I got the bug early on, and have spent a lot of money over the years on audio gear.
My first good headphones (mid 80s) were Audio Technica ATH-7, which were some amazing phones. I have several sets of phones, IEMs, etc., but I find I miss good speakers. I fear another bout of audiophilia is due to strike this year, probably resulting in speakers and an amp.
Curse you, Mr. P!
