AKG K271 MKII vs. AKG K240 MKII

Which one is beter? Using a really good sound card on my PC, and sometimes my iPhone with an E6

Better for what? Rock, classical, hip hop, electronica, jazz, isolation? Impossible to make a recommendation unless we know what kind of music you listen to, and whether you need to block out noise. One is semi-open, the other closed. The k240, has a lot of mid/upper bass....even a bit too much, imo. k271 according to some people, doesn't have enough.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to mention all that stuff :)

I listen to pop-rock (Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Maroon 5 etc.). Im not a bass head but I like it bassy. Right now I have the K518DJ which I realllllly like but they hurt my hear badly. Isolation isnt important. I dont want ppl to hear my music loudly, but noise isolation isnt a problem. I like the 3D feeling some headphones give, like that the vocal is right in front of you, and the violents are on the back, drums abit to the left, etc. And it is very important that the cans will be fast! I love to hear evey possible note and noise!

I use iTunes to play my music at 320KBPS (the maximum) and I only listen to music from CDs I bought and burned onto iTunes.

Thanks very much to anyone replying to my thread, for your help :)

Between the two, for general listening without needing isolation, I think the 240 is a better headphone.

The k240 definitely won't disturb anyone sitting near you. Very little sound leaks out....and they should suit all your genres very well. Never heard the k271, but if you like to hear some bass in your music, along with very good mids, the k240 won't disappoint. YMMV, of course

Come on guys this is a little ergent...

Does the K240mkii leak much? Do they have a beter soundstage?

Do they have beter sound overall? For pop and pop-rock...

They leak a bit. Not as much as other open cans.

They have better soundstage than the 271, but not as good as some other AKG (e.g. 702)

I think they sound better overall for general listening. The extra energy in the bottom end pays off with rock.

Frankly, the only reason to get the 271 is for isolation.

I haven't heard both of those sets of headphones.  Only the K240's.  Sound leakage from them is minimal, nowhere near the open headphones I have.

I have used them for gaming, and movies, where a larger soundstage helps, and they do fine for these tasks, but I wouldn't describe them as outstanding at this.   I've heard all kinds of descriptions regarding their sound, with many saying the bass is a bit too prominent.  They don't seem so to me, and I'm not at all a basshead.  Mids are very good, but not quite as close to my own personal tastes as my Grado's.  I use the K240's when I want to relax with my music, as they reveal good detail without being aggressive/in your face about it.

I definitely agree with the last sentence....describes them very well....and they have better soundstage than closed phones You have to be right on top of them to hear any leakage at all.
