So since I finally decided to get some nice audio equipment for my computer I thought to try recording the base for compositions using a bass guitar instead of a midi keyboard. My sound card is the Asus Xonar Essence STX (just picked up today). It sounds really nice through my logitech z5500 speakers but utter crap through my USB logitech g35 headset. I have ordered denon d5000's so they are on the way and it should sound awesome through those.
The problem is though that I am getting a delay when playing through either my z5500 speakers or g35 headset (just using the 'listen' option for line in). I haven't actually tried recording because Acid Pro was having some problems (saying it was having errors because of low memory even though I was at 3gb out of 8gb ram? Not sure what it meant I might just try reinstalling it lol). Is there some driver or something that should make it work fine for recording (ASIO4ALL v2?). I can't wait for my d5000's though I hope to get a great sound out of them!!
Oh and just another thing to note, this is probably due to the horribleness of the g35 but when playing the bass guitar through them it has lots of distortion/feedback, but there is no distortion/feedback when playing through my speakers (which are connected to the sound card) however as I mentioned before there is (about .2-.5 seconds I guess?) a really annoying delay which I doubt would be fixed by playing through my headphones when they arrive (unless it could be a spdif issue or something?).
Should I try connecting some basic apple earplugs into the sound card headphones jack to see if I still get a delay?
