android devices with a dac...

It seems like one thing Ipad can do that android can't is work with a dac and amp. They make a lot of products form docking or connecting your iphone/ipad to a dac but I have seen nothing for android. I do have an old iphone 3gs but I would like to use either my  asus transformer (plus the dock) or my galaxy nexus with a dac. Is this possible at the moment? I did try connected my usb dac into the keyboard dock for the transformer however it did not work. The sound still came out of the tablets speakers.

Both are on ICS and both have the capability of using an external DAC.

how do you get it to do so? And I actually have the original asus transformer not the prime so it doesn't have ICS yet

You need an OTG cable for the GNex. If you want to use a self-powered DAC, you just need that, if it is a USB-powered DAC, you need a USB hub that will provide power to the DAC.

Just search for a powered USB hub and search on how to use GNex's USB Host mode.

Are you sure this is the case? I thought that USB audio is not yet enabled on official ICS builds:

I think only CyanogenMod CM7 builds work with USB audio (not sure about CM9).

It was supposed to be enabled from the beginning. If it does not work yet, it will soon.

It was enabled in 4.0.2

USB host functionality was enabled in 4.0.2, but it still is not working with USB audio devices, and it seems we don't know when it will. Read this thread:
